Average Time To Publish?

Hello fellow authors,
I was wondering what everyone's experience has been lately on time from pending to publish? I've found it really tough to get things through lately. Right now I have 3 stories Pending, one that I submitted on April 24th. Granted that's just a week, but up until the past month or so, stories were usually published within a couple of days.
Anyhow, all good if everyone is experiencing similar delays, I can imagine it takes time to get through them all.

But just wanted to see if others were experiencing the same delays or if it is just me for some reason?

Thanks everyone, for your feedback.

Erin

I'm also awaiting a story to get published. Usually mine have about a few days pending time.

Two stories pending at the moment. One submitted last Wednesday, the other on Monday morning. Not sure what's keeping Laurel from getting to them.

They're up on my AO3 account, I'm still accepting feedback from there if anyone cares. Some stories that didn't meet Lit's standards but I think might still be enjoyable and all my Lit stories are there too.

I don't know if Laurel just likes me or I'm on some fast track list, but I'm still getting stories accepted (marked New rather than Pending) in under 24 hours, 48 if it's a weekend. Got one going live in the morning that I submitted about 1 am last night.

It depends what you post, its content, how long you have been a site member, and how many other stories you have published.

And the exact formula is a mystery. Both my stories have no objectionable content far as I can tell after reviewing them and the site guidelines, I've been a member since 2006 with over 50 other works published... whatever, Laurel. Long as you get em up eventually, hope it's soon. Nothing I can do but wait.

My latest went to submission Sunday Evening and popped up on Tuesday morning, so about two days. That has been my general experience overall with Lit.

I’ve had some weirdly fast submissions on my current series. I usually submit in the early AM. Most times it will be approved in 24-30 hours and be live two days after submission. Lately, I’ve had approvals before the end of business on the first day.

My first chapter of this series had a six day delay. I resubmitted with a note to moderators. Since then they’ve been super fast.

If you go five or six days I suggest resubmitting with a note explaining it’s a redo after X days in pending limbo.

OK... I feel better now. I posted a story Last Thursday, and it still has not been posted. Was beginning to think that they found something wrong with it and had just not told me yet.

Yea it takes 2days average. I posted a story on 26th April and some reason it got delayed a lot. Then I reupload it on 30th April. One thing I noticed they changed the upload time. Currently my story showing only 14hours ago submitted. Maybe I'm writing too frequently and they are delaying intentionally.

But I hate it when they delay it and sent back the story. Ohh and the reasons is also super annoying. AI writing detected. I would like to know that early so that I could start reworking on it.

Yeah, I sometimes wonder if they aren't delaying my publication intentionally. But I have no proof and Laurel's been straight with me quickly in the past if I have violated underage guidelines or political guidelines or whatever. I have been unsure of the exact boundaries a few times. So she can put me on whatever posting schedule she wants. I'll keep up the social media presence here until otherwise directed. Just hope my stories are excepted eventually, like I said before.

Just repeating a warning about Illustrated Stories: They take a lot longer -- weeks to months, sometimes.

My last two stories were approved to go "New" in less than 24 hours after I clicked "Publish" on a Saturday.

I think there are several factors involved. If you are a relatively new author, they need to thoroughly review the story to see that you understand their rules. After they've had to reject a story, did you understand and follow the rules after that? Are your stories after that consistent in content, and so easily seen as no longer a threat?

I tend to write about my same two main characters. And after Laural rejected one of my earliest stories for underage (suggestions of going all the way after their junior Prom), I adjusted to state that they are seniors and over 18. Since then, I write a note to the Admins pointing out anything which I think might cause concern, such as including HTML links ("The links within the story point to my other stories in LitE.") After posting multiple stories and easing their concerns by focusing on one or two categories, the Admins just save time by quickly reviewing those they've learned to trust from the past.

They WANT more content and faster, BUT within their rules.

Hope my pending stories pass their vetting soon. If I can somehow make things easier for them, I wish they would tell me. I do value my fans on Lit. But I don’t expect answers and I’m not ceasing posting on AO3 also.

Thanks for the responses so far. It is good to hear others are experiencing similarly long delays ... but frustrating to hear some are getting published in 24-48 hours. That's not cool.
Anyhow, hoping they will finally get published soon. I have a fair amount of stories/series I've been working on for the past year but didn't post. I'm now revisiting them and doing some final edits/changes and trying to get them published. I have others sitting in Drafts but I'm scared to even click Publish because I sometimes wonder if they delay if you have TOO many to be published. It all seems so random.

I've heard people recommend re-submitting them, but I'm scared that will only put me back of the queue again and then I'm waiting another 1-2 weeks to get published :( That is how it works, right?

Really wish they would add a couple of others to help read through and publish, I'm sure it is a lot for just one or two people. It is demotivating when you put time into it but then you get delayed for so long.
Anyhow, will continue to wait I guess.

As I said above, I write consistently.

Over the past four years, I've posted 53 stories here. The first dozen or so took a week in pending. But as I posted more and alerted them to any potential concerns with "Note to Admins", I think those who review the submissions become more comfortable with my username.

"Oh, it's Lifestyle66, AGAIN, with another Jan & Ted swinger story. So, I won't need to look for underage, bestiality, or rape shit." They probably spend maybe five to ten minutes quickly browsing my 10K words and click "New".

I think if I wrote a different story about a gay male high school teacher, or an incest story with the potential for a father to do his underaged daughter, ... those would probably take a week or two to publish as they carefully scan each paragraph (and detract from my future story quick postings.)

The LitE website NEEDS our stories for their clickbait. And it's in their best interests to publish as many stories as fast as practical. So, the reviews are probably done with that speed in mind: Which are the ones most likely to take the least of our time to review? I posted my story "The Maneater" in January (22k words) and I think that one took several days in "Pending", because it was ONE story (ie. one clickbait) and it was two to three times as long as others.

because I sometimes wonder if they delay if you have TOO many to be published. It all seems so random.
At one point I submitted half a dozen stories at once - and I'd only been publishing for a few weeks.

They were approved within hours and were published one by one over the next six days.

So I wouldn't worry on that count.

My wait time is usually less than 48 hours. It may be because I am not posting at peak times because I am based in the UK. Also, I tend to use UK cultural references and slang from the 1980s, which could mean that any AI detection device is more likely to give me the benefit of the doubt.
Ignoring 70% of Grammerly's rewrite suggestions could also help. Although it is excellent at catching typos and punctuation bloopers, it does discourage colloquialisms.
As Lifestyle 66 says, there may be something in having a track record of not testing the boundaries. Certainly, in some stories, I make it very clear that everyone described as being sexually active is over 18 and even give convincing backstories explaining that they had to miss a year in school or have recently had a birthday.

Speaking from the Poetry side of the house, I had one post yesterday after two days in the queue.

"One of Those Moment" by Enbiji. It's pretty good, she said pluggingly.

Thanks again for the responses, great info. For the first time ever about a month or so ago, I had a couple of stories sent back based on "AI detection" which was ridiculous, but sounds like many people are going through that lately. I won't get into that topic here ;) When that happened, I did some rewrites (not sure what I was changing as there was no feedback, but just changed a bunch of stuff and rolled the dice) and after almost 2 weeks, they published my rewrites. So now I'm wondering if I'm purposely in the "slow" queue because of it. Either way I think I'm just going to delete them from my Pending and resubmit them and hope that helps. Frustrating because get IM's and comments telling me I'm too slow to write/publish new chapters to my stories, but not my fault.

Takes about as long as the average man requires to get hard again after a night with me 😹😹😹
Yeah my penis can be stuck in "Pending" status for days until it finally get posted, usually in the wrong category too
