It appears that the press is congratulating itself for this event. They seem to want to take credit for the efforts of others.

It demeens the 'awardees' in that the press implies that they won on the merits of the their being 'black'. Not the fact that they were voted the award by a jury of their peers for the performances they delivered. Then again, it could be a conspiracy.

It seems that many judge the United States based on our 'main stream' press. My goodness p_p_man, that would be like me judging all English citizens based on your rants.

Everyone has a stereotype or two. I've looked over several posts from PP man and well... he's as prejudiced over Americans as some Americans are over African-Americans.

Even though a lot of us think the discrimination is so awful, the bad always shines through in EVERY country, state, province, nation and whatever the hell else you want to call it.

Everyone in this world has somekind of opinion about someone else. It will never change. As for two African-Americans winning Oscars... they were well deserved. And in my opinion... Denzel deserved one long ago.
