Who's more likely to say yes on this?

So I found this thread on here. I've said nothing b/c a) I will not be writing that story and b) I'm appalled.

It's hard to tell from the post whether the guy's wife is okay with the situation, or just not making waves -- hey, maybe she figures she has a good deal in terms of money or security, who knows? But still, part of me is baffled.

Anyway, I did find myself wondering whether this might roughly break down along gender lines. For example, would a man be more likely to be intrigued by the situation as it's described in that thread? Would a woman be more likely to be offended?

The Male of the species of course, yet a female with a low sex drive or who believes that sex is a duty instead of pleasure, might agree just so she doesn't have to participate. And isn't late 50's that time menopause starts for some women?

I think menopause can happen anytime in the mid- to late-40s, or later, for women.

And I think was unclear in my question -- I was wondering who is more likely to say yes to writing the story? (Which, given my recent experience in reading a story based on real life events, is probably not as interesting as the poster thinks.)

But I'm still appalled.

Who is the "we" he refers to? He and his young honey or he and the quiet wife?

I think a male is more likely to be "intrigued" to agree to write this.

But I get the impression that the poster is asking for a female because he wants to expand to a third partner.

I assumed the "we" was he and the younger woman. If the wife knows and "is quiet about it," I have a hard time thinking she'd want to be in on writing a story about it. And I wouldn't disagree with your impression.

The question is with regards to his wife being "quiet" about it. Is she "quiet" in the sense of "I honestly don't mind that my husband has someone else, as long as it's not put in my face?" Or is it "quiet" in the sense of, "I'm terrified that my husband will leave me, so I just never say anything?"

It really does come off as a creepy request. There may be details that make it less creepy that simply aren't visible here...but then, I would hope that a guy in that situation would at least be self-aware enough to realize that he's coming off as kind of creepy and who would explain/elaborate appropriately.

This is really a question to ask the original poster, which you can do. The thread is posted to AH:

Ah...then male would be my answer.

I feel much the same, which is why I was so creeped out by the original post. Even if the wife is okay with it so long as it's not in her face, then asking someone to write about it seems as though it would be rubbing salt in the wound. Any way I look at it, it appears that he's doing something disrespectful to the wife (aside from the obvious).

I'd hope he realizes how creepy it sounds, although I'm figuring even if he does he probably doesn't care. I admit that I've checked back to see if he's gotten any replies, and so far it's sitting at zero.

My bet is male, and I suppose it will wind up on LW, if it ever gets written. As has been said many times before, there should be a "Cheaters" category, so the trolls will know where to go.

Yes I think there should be a Cheaters category; that'd make things much easier. Or Erotica Republic used to have a "Slut Wives" section. At least you knew what you were getting.

Well this is funny - still no replies, and if it's likelier that a guy would be interested in writing the story, there probably won't be any replies.

The post reminds me of the brouhaha over stories that include just one sentence mentioning the wife. Which thread was that?

The cynic in me thinks his girlfriend is all in his head.

Maybe wifey's quiet because she's watching hubby do his girfriend from hiding and jilling off. Then the story would be in the E/V cat. :D

And maybe wifey is glad he's off poking someone else other than her.

There are soooo many reasons why wifey might be quiet.

Well, I started that other thread. I really do find it annoying when you're going along and then there's a line about the spouse, but then it's never referred to again. I gather a lot of people find that enough to spice up a story line. For me, it pretty much eliminates any sympathy I had for that character.

This girlfriend very well could be in the guy's head. It's still creepy.

True, true. And you can only infer so much from a post, but it seemed to me that if the wife was okay with it, he would have said so. I inferred she wasn't okay with it, but kept quiet for whatever reason.

I'd take that as an incentive to build a story that encouraged you to have the reaction to the husband that you describe here only to find out in the end that the wife was a real bitch who was doing worse than he was and boxing him into to no better options. :D

Haha. That's about what I'd have to do. I've said before that I do have a couple of caveats to the cheating spouse thing, and this would probably fall under it.

So let's see... a meta-story about an author who is approached by someone to write the story of how he has an affair with a young chippie (I love that phrase) and his wife is "quiet" about it. The intrepid writer begins the research, to the point of trailing the wife, only find out that the wife is engaged in all kinds of wicked things...

Right. I'll add it to the queue of stories I have started and can't get to anyway.

That's often the angle I look for in writing a story. "Now, how can I play on the assumptions here and turn it around."

I've been influenced by a Carol Burnett skit I saw once, where she started off making us laugh at her for something and then turned it on a dime and made us cry and be embarrassed that we laughed--and ended by bring the viewer back out of it and everything being OK again. I don't remember the specifics, just the technique, which I thought was brilliant.

As far as the original post, I saw it before I saw this thread and just wrote him off as a guy looking for a cyber hookup with a young girl who was turned on by rubbing up against a supposedly married man. I didn't really think he was looking for anyone to write a story at all.

I think it breaks down as soon as the issue of money is raised.

Anything's possible. I just took the original post at face value. What can I say? I'm a literal, linear type.

As Seinfeld would say with a wry smile and crossed eyes, "And there's nothing wrong about that."

Depends on the man or woman. Very few men will be offended I mean it is a very common plot device especially if he is a "sugar daddy"

As for women being offended? Older married women probably but surf the Lit personal there are tons of young girls looking for either out right Daddy figures or just older men.

Many women are attracted to older men because they claim they are more confident, and play less head games. I disagree older does not mean wiser. It just means mid life crisis.

Like I said earlier, I wasn't clear in my question. I was trying to ask who would be more likely to accept the writing assignment, men or women. I wondered if women might be too offended, even though he asked for a female writer.

I didn't mean to ask who'd want to be in such a situation, although that was how it came across. My mistake.
