I am!

I'm all kinds of nervous. I have the menu planned out already.

Glazed Roasted Turkey
Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Dijon Cream Sauce
Apple-sausage stuffing
Chive Mashed Potatoes
Gravy (of course)
Cranberry-Cinnamon Chutney
Salad made with hearts of romaine, spinach, dried cranberries, walnuts, blue cheese and topped with a dressing of dijon, walnut oil and red wine vinegar
Artesian sourdough bread

This will be followed by my famous lucious four layer pumpkin cake.

I've already bought the non perishable ingredients.

Also, I have a recipe for a kick ass cheeseball with water crackers, but beyond that I would appreciate some really elegant appetizer recipes.

We aren't doing Thanksgiving this year but we are doing Christmas.

That should be interesting.

Not me..I am 37 years old and have yet to do so. Once I got married, Thanksgiving is his family gathering. So, we will be at his Aunts...AGAIN. There will be pain. Oh yes...there will be pain. Perhaps I will just take my bottle with me.

HAM/ASPARAGUS ROLLS

5" square Danish ham, sliced in 2 mm size
Cream cheese
Asparagus spears

Cut 5" square ham slices in half and spread cream cheese on one side of ham (a thin layer is better). Prepare asparagus by draining spears and putting in food processor or blender and puree. Spoon asparagus to each cream cheese ham slice. Roll and hold in place with a toothpick.

I've also just rolled the ham slices around the asparagus spears without pureeing. It's tasty either way.

Actually, that sounds best without pureeing the asparagus. Asparagus is such an awesome appetizer food.

Asparagus is a favorite of mine. I don't know if you're into pretty presentation, but it looks a lot better when you use the whole spears.

Brushetta? It's simple to make and delicious.

I'd go easy on the appetizers because too many means too many stuffed guests when you bring out the turkey.

Any chance you'll share the recipe for the four layer pumpkin cake? That sounds delicious.

We have a family appetizer that my grown children whine about if I leave it off one year or another.

2 cans Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
1 box pre-cooked sausage links

Cut the sausages into quarters
Unroll the dough but don't separate into triangles -- Leave every 2 triangles together to make a rectangle (smush the diagonal perforations together)
Slice the rectangle dough into lengthwise strips

Roll one strip around and around a sausage piece.
Bake for about 10 min on an ungreased cookie sheet -- until golden brown.

That's it. Easy Peasy. And very yummy.

I have hosted several Thanksgiving dinners, but this will be my third one alone.

I don't even have much of an appetite anymore, so gorging on turkey and the trimmings is not an option. I guess that I have 16 days left to find some fucking thing to be thankful for.

are you looking for meat based apps?cheese?veggie?
or just anything goes?
what you have so far sound yummy

Any kind of apps. Unique and yummy. I want to make a good impression, as it's my first year hosting Turkey Day. :D
