This place was always too high brow for me.

I like diner food.

The battered husband burger from Tommy's Burger Stop.

Yes. You just have to make sure you tape their mouths before you stick them in the fry daddy.

I'm going to forget this convo......

But, next time to Tommy's, I'm getting the burger.

It does have the deep fried jalapenos.

There's a local place that serves a burger with battered and fried jalapenos called The Scorcher. Delicious.

Here, it's the Battered Husband Burger.

Stella Bleu is a fav, there.

And, they make phillies, the Aloha beef is yummm.

Yay, roux! And the holy trinity!

I miss talking with Zilla about duck fat and Thai food.

Here's a recipe I gave gravy this morning.

Black bean, yam and hominy tacos
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can hominy, rinsed and drained
2 yams, peeled, cubed, roasted, cooled
1 onion, sliced
1 red pepper, sliced
1 yellow pepper, sliced
2 garlic cloves, minded
Cumin, cinnamon, chile powder, smoked paprika

Over med-high heat, saute onions and peppers in a few teaspoons ev olive oil until cooked to your liking. Add garlic and cook. Add spices, bloom. Add beans, hominy and yams and cook just until everything is warmed (don't overcook the yams).

Serve on warm corn tortillas with cotija, pico de gallo, minced serrano and cilantro leaves.

Yams are goodness.

Aren't they, though? I do all kinds of things with them. I roast them with garlic and rosemary. I grate them and thicken soup with them. I bake them as fry wedges to go with veggie burgers. I love roasting and dicing them and tossing them with couscous and curry for a 10 minute dinner.

No way? all that wonderfulness with yams? I have seriously been not appreciated yams my whole life. I craved them something serious when I was pregnant, couldn't get enough of whole baked yams.
