He was a weird fella! I don't think sex is the main driving force of human. It might be a strong one at best. Sorry dude, I like sex as much as anybody but can't go with that! :|
 
I wonder if the world would be a better place if sex were the priority, instead of money and political power...

His theories have gne a long way in explaining the way people behave and the issues that they have to deal with
but then it all become totally about sex, and his own obsession with sex overrode any credibility with his later theories.

His ideas are super influential (see Adam Curtis for some very insightful portrayal of his influence) and very credible, but then come unstuck and lack development

Try some Carl Jung for interesting psyche thoughts

I am familiar with some of his theory. And I totally agree that Freud's theories are unnecessarily negative.
 
Freud was important for putting modern psychology on the map, and his merits end there in my eye. Carl Jung, his progeny, has, I feel, contributed much more insight to the world of psychology and psychoanalysis.
