Who should Trump pick as a running mate?

I'd make it a poll but I'd have to include Dolf and she's not a citizen. (Although I'm sure if she were a democrat Bill would try to make an exception.)

There has been a public poll already and Newt Gingrich is the front runner with Joni Ernst of Iowa running a close second. But the possibilities are not limited to those two.

Gingrich has the advantage of knowing how DC works. He knows where the skeletons are hidden and how to merge differing POV's. His deficits are that he has a LOT of political baggage.

Ernst has the advantage of being an outsider, and a woman of substance. She fits the model of being uncorrupted by the DC culture. Her deficits are that she really doesn't know how DC works. She makes good speeches and is easy on the eye, but can she break out the brass knuckles when required?

What's your choice? What are their advantages and deficits?

He should pick Sarah Palin, since she wouldn't even be the crazies loon on the ticket.

It would be a win/win for wingnuts everywhere.

One of his sons or his daughter. Keep it in the family.
Besides, the lucky sod will get some job experience in politics along the way.
Is either of them enrolled to vote yet, by the way?

One guy says Trump will pick Democrat Jim Webb.

Webb was my pick for President. He comes with zero baggage and plenty of laurels for his military service. Won a Navy Cross.

I'm unlikely to Discount anything you say this race you were absolutely the first person that I ever saw suggests that Trump had a snowball's chance in hell. I've been politically and different for some time so I'm not very well read it all these days. And you read a lot.
Hillary. Then everyone who wants her into office gets their wish, everyone who wants Trump into office gets theirs, we combine the distastefulness into one nice neat running ticket, and Sanders wins running for the 'None of the Above' party.
the vice president has virtually no power at the smartest thing he could do would be to pick Bernie Sanders as his running mate. Bernie would then have a chance to get his ideas heard because the vice president does have that kind of pull does act as a tiebreaker in the Senate and gains valuable on-the-job experience if he acquits himself well to entirely possible Bernie Sanders could succeed Donald Trump 8 years later.

I'm trying to picture the pluses and minuses though in the voting constituencies. That's sort of a ticket hardcore Republican conservatives would simply stay home Trump isn't a conservative anyway and then once he goes and gets a socialist on the ticket they're just not even going to bother to vote. On the other hand everybody gets pissed off for the DNC giving what they see the Bernie a short shrift might show up to vote. And the vast kind of in the middle don't really understand politics sort of understand the labels might get enthused about especially the young vote might just vote for some of ticket like that simply because it's different and what we currently have clearly isn't working keeping in mind of course that different doesn't by any stretch of the imagination necessarily mean better

Hillary plays second fiddle (that which we rednecks call a violin) to no one including her husband.

To answer the original question, I like Joni, but she will be Palinized. I like Newt, but he has baggage that will remind the unwashed of how good it was when Bill was fighting Newt and his moral hypocrisy. Anyone else I pick is clearly not on his radar, but he cannot go with another white conservative male because it will give the press a chance to work over the middle, the undecideds, those who consider themselves moderate centrists (but actually lean to the left under the same intense peer pressure that let Hilary walk).

None of it matters to me.

I'm voting to give both branches of the elites a big Johnson up the ass...

Lincoln wasn't popular with the GOP, and picked a Democrat (Andrew Johnson) for 1864. Lincoln fucked the GOP elites, and I expect Trump to do the same. Then as now the election is a contest between the 1 percenters and average Americans.

After all the media ridicule of Trumps bank balance, Trump collected 56 million during June. Rasmussen shows Trump ahead of HRC (3 weeks in a row) while media pollsters show HRC ahead. The media works for the 1 percenters.

I expect Trump to pick players like Gingrich and Webb and Carson and other reputable people, I expect HRC to pick hacks.

I expect him to make a terrible choice.

The GOP always finds a way to fuck up the election just like they blew two golden opportunities to beat The Fraud. It's in their DNA.

Here comes the Remedial Kindergarten class...Puke is here with his PeeWee Herman lunch box.

He already has one. And she has a husband who's in politics, too.

Have you not been paying attention?

^^And his classmate...the First Amendment expert!

I know the basics about it.

Which, in the context of your crowd's knowledge on the subject, apparently makes me a fucking genius. :D
