What's your favorite?

(yes I have one sitting next to me! )

According to the inside of the box lid (which I can NEVER figure out how to read... upside down? what? ewww that wasn't coconut, it was molasses!) these are the flavors:

Coconut
Penan/English Walnut Cluster
Chocolate Truffle
Chocolate covered peanuts
Molasses Chew
Toffee Chip
Caramel
Messenger Boy (solid chocolate)
Cherry Cordial
Chocolate Covered Almonds
Almond Nougat
Chocolate Whip
Cashew Cluster
Vermont Fudge


I'm leaning toward toffee chip myself... although I think coconut or caramel has to come in a close 2nd...

I'm just dreading finding that molasses chew...

Well they're obviously lying... they say they're the best-known, best-loved 'candy' in the world... I've never heard of them... (and trust me, when it comes to chocolate I am well aware of available brands)

It in NO way compares to European chocolate... can't compete.

But it's not bad... is there such a thing as "bad" chocolate, really?

Not bad... but after a certain point it just stops being chocolate...

I've never been a fan of Whitmans, other than the nostalgia factor. My great-great aunt would give us a big box for christmas and my brother taught me to scrape a little hole in the bottom of the chocolates first to see if you like it before you take a bite. So all the chocolates left in the box after we were done would have holes in the bottom and somehow our parents never noticed.


V, Whitman's has been around since the mid-19th century. They were a little looser with "truth in advertising" then.

At assorted holidays, the doctors will send us boxes of chocolate to the unit. (I decided a long time ago that it was a conspiracy amongst their wives to keep the nurses fat, lol)...and you would open the box and there would be the chocolate...with little finger pokes in the bottom! These nurses, these "health care professionals" would do that and then THROW IT BACK IN THE BOX! lol
