White Christian Minority in USA & Europe; Barbarians at the Gate!

Xccsve...You are among the many that seem to define 'tax credits' as subsidies...tax credits means, ah, we won't tax you quite as much as before because we need new energy sources and stable prices...

but then...that is no doubt lost on you...and just where are all the new energy resources being exploited in the USA?

You must pardon me if I ramble a bit. Sudweiser does that to me.

Let's see here.

Energy. Atomics are a good thing. Yes they are. If the Untied States would catch up with Europe and design and build Nuclear Plants that actually used more than ten percent of the fuel in the rods that would be a good thing and would help us in our energy needs. One day we might maybe find the key to Fusion but I'm not holding my breath.

Alternative energy sources are not the whole answer no matter what people say. Yes Wind and Solar and Tidal Energy sources will help but they aren't the answer in and of themselves. Then again Oil is not the answer either. We need a mix of all of the above and everything else we can think of. (Even Nuclear isn't the answer to end all. Uranium is a limited resource too you know.)

Racism,

Oh how I love this term. Much as I love all Ism's. Now I know that I step on toes with my beliefs about this but I just don't care any longer. Racism, sexism, genderism, they are all the same damned thing to me. I understand where they started and I even agree with it, but it has gone too damned far.

You want me to treat you as an equal then start treating me as an equal. I honestly could care less what race, religion or gender you are. I honestly could care less who you want to take to bed or marry. On the other hand I do care when you start judging me by who I am or who I chose to take to bed or marry. I also care when you start asking me to treat you special because of what you feel. Stop trying to act different and pushing it in my face.

Religion?

Feel free to believe the way you want. Just don't try pushing your views on me. I'm not going to push my views on you and I refuse to allow you to push your views on me. If you don't like that then piss off.

Politics?

I have my views on government and it's place in our lives. So do you. My politics doesn't run my life however.

Capitalism?

I have my views on free captialism. I have my views on it's place in our society and it's responsibilities. (Yes companies have responsibilities.) They may not match yours but you know something? None of us have all the answers. I understand this.

It's all viewpoints people. Viewpoints picked up from what we have learned from other people and from our lives. Everyone has a viewpoint and everyones viewpoint is different. No one has all the right answers and I am adult enough to know that.

Cat...here's a lil roundabout for you, for what it's worth....I have a friend, a nuclear engineer, who has worked the past year on a thesis he is soon to present...he asked me for my opinion on the, positive, neutral or negative aspects of possibly taking employment outside his profession until his job search provided an opportunity.

He has a source of income that allows him to exist at a minimum level, but does not wish to draw on it any longer than necessary.

I suggested that employment outside his profession was a trap, thus a negative and I recommended, if possible, he not take a job as a stockboy in a supermarket when he should be at a nuclear lab doing research or at a facility as an operator.

He has an extensive knowledge and a good mind on all the subjects you mentioned, religion, politics, race, economics and such...we mostly agree, but not in all cases.

My 'roundabout' point is...that a fortunate few of us, in either our career choices, interests or serendipity, have the luxury to contemplate the issues you mentioned to a much greater degree than those up to their Moustaches in living, working and maintaining a relationship.

Your views on the varied subjects are passable, even admirable, with a major reservation; that you tend to see most as non threatening, passive and benign if kept to themselves.

"Evil triumphs if good does nothing...", to paraphrase, and for that homily to make sense at all, one has to understand that evil does exist and will expand if not limited by the actions of the good.

It is the reason we hire police, sheriff's, state cops and up the line to national defense; it is why emergency rooms and paramedics exist; the metaphor between health and disease equating good and evil, is appropo here, as there is very little gray areas in either.

i'm just curious: i've heard the projections about white christians becoming a minority in the US too. but why the handwringing? if this nation truly is a melting pot, isn't it about time it started looking like it?
