She is my heroine. I have followed her posts and read the good solid stuff the puts up.

I have the honour, privilege and pleasure of editing her work.

I worked on Hostile Take-over even though I don't like to read Non Consent stuff.
I was knocked out by the standard of her work.
There is a thread on the feedback board which covers all that but I will just mention that I also missed the 'green eyes' bit.
Perhaps it did work as she hoped because I am a very picky editor.

I have just finished reading the first chapter of her new work, The Artefact. It is terrific, a wonderful read. When it is published I think that Laurel ought to make an announcement on the site’s opening page.

I don't usually post but I couldn't wait to tell you all what a treat is in store for you.
She must end up as writer of the year.

Two other points I would make: On the Waste/waist topic, I had an e-mail from a real published author with half a dozen books to his credit. He had spotted mistakes on my web site and had written:

"By the way - this is me being a picky writer - there are a few errors sprinkled around your site, i.e. spelling of independent, Chevalier (under the line illustration), Piccadilly Express (under London Bobby),
and the dreaded it's which when used in the possessive should be its (under What Is WebRing). Sorry to be pompous but these little slips leap out at me and tend to undermine confidence."

I welcome his comments and count him as a friend because I try to be professional in my work, even though my site is really just for myself – my hobby.

The second point was: Laurel was asking for a standard for stories: Let them look to Whispersecret.

I've been told that I should be more dignified when accepting praise than I was earlier today. Therefore, my previous post has been edited. The only reason I posted in the humorous way I did was because I didn't want to appear any more pompous than I usually do--like I was looking down from the mountain and nodding my thanks in a superior fashion.
