Silly girl, coconuts are bigger. :p
i was just thinking of how i would eat a cashew. hold it lightly in my teeth...pressing my tongue against its seam, moving it up and down along the slit...erm seam  applying more pressure...slowly splitting it open... ok i'll stop now. :D coconuts are NOT in a jar of mixed nuts, i checked the label...whats a filbert? seems no one likes those...or maybe we do but dont know it.

Nay. Hunch over the cashew can, jamming them into your face willy nilly while casting glaring looks from left to right from under beetled brows as if to say touch my nuts and lose a digit.

cashews need to be covered in chocolote, for me.

brazil nuts are just odd and oily, they make me crave fried chicken or deep fried cheese or some other nasty off the wagon stuff...

and I like the hazelnuts, or filberts as they were called before the advent of starbucks everywhere.

ohhhhhhhhhhh filberts are hazelnuts. i like learning stuff i didnt know :) thank you Netzach. Are those the ones that almost look like pregnant peanuts?

The only reason I knew that was because my grandfather calls them that, I had no clue what a hazelnut was till I went on an exchange to Ireland.

Yes, pregnant peanuts, in a really impossible shiny hard shell.

LOL.

my brother used to shoot those at us from the nutcracker at thanksgiving dinner...pretending they just slipped out of the nut cracker and flew across the room and hit us (me and my two sisters) in the foreheads.

Brazil nuts are a nutritional powerhouse, but they're not my favorites. They are often slightly rancid in cans of mixed nuts.

Macademias are the nut of choice. Pistachios are good for the squirrelly, fidgety times.

OK so here is the reason i started the thread  The nuts i like are those really big ones :D and i can never remember what they are called. Thanks Grace.

LOL It took me a few minutes to remember what they're called. What they were called when I was little is not anything I will repeat, so I generally call them 'the big ones'. lol

Not to be a pain in the ass, but being a pain, are coconuts nuts?

"Botanically speaking, a coconut is a simple dry fruit known as a fibrous drupe (not a nut). The husk (mesocarp) is fibrous and there is an inner "stone" (the endocarp). This hard endocarp has three germination pores that are clearly visible on the outside surface once the husk is removed. It is through one of these that the radicle emerges when the embryo germinates. When viewed on end, the endocarp and germination pores resemble the face of a monkey, the Portuguese word for which is coco."

Repeat after me. Google is our friend.

Cashews first. I like to split them open and nibble my way from one end to the other. Then macadamias. Those, I'll just eat. They're good. Chocolate-covered macadamias are better. White chocolate covered macadamia nuts will get me hunched over the package elbows out, eyes glaring, daring anyone to try to even get near them.

Actually, anything covered with white chocolate will get that reaction. Wife #2 used to go out and buy me something - anything - with white chocolate when I was pissed or frustrated at something. Pretty smart woman. Not smart enough to embrace the culture, though.

I actually go for the surprise element, a la Halloween...just reach in and take my delight in the variety of whatever comes up. I do admit disappointment when it's peanuts, though. They're the peons of the legume kingdom.

Mmm, pistachios. There's a nut I can enjoy in profusion when I'm craving salty.
