Abs pointed me to this link..
too fun not to share.

You are William Thackeray. You are a wit, albeit a very moralist wit. You make fun of everyone. You love yourself. You are the life and soul of the party, who cannot stand being bored or sober for more than a few seconds. But you were always ready to tell other people what was right or wrong. You had a child-wife, who eventually killed herself.. whether because she was schizophrenic or because of you, remains to be told.

who would you have been?

Apparently, I'm Jane Austen. "Sane, sensible, and elegant- a complete perfectionist. You agonise over every thing you do. You are also slightly morbid, and are fascinated by sickness. All in all, ordinary in an extraordinary way. Good for you!"

Interesting and surprising:

You are Jane Austen. You are sane, sensible, and elegant- a complete perfectionist. You agonise over every thing you do. You are also slightly morbid, and are fascinated by sickness. All in all, ordinary in an extraordinary way. Good for you!

Lou

P.S. Ditto, Lauren. Whodathunkit, eh?

Emily Bronte You are an expert in self-cauterizing rabid dog bites, catching tuberculosis and keeping everyone guessing. You were an anorexic who baked food all day, having visionary experiences by night. One day, you beat your own dog senseless with your bare fists. You were a secret lesbian. Many psychologists have since deemed you schizophrenic also. May you rest in peace!

Jane Austen here too.

Just how many possible answers does this quiz have?

Or is it time to dig up Rod Serling?

Indeed! I was rooting for being Bram Stoker or Mary Shelley. Although, Jane Austen is pretty cool. Not quite me, though.

I think this may be rigged:

You are Jane Austen. (Apparently so is everyone else) You are sane, sensible, and elegant- a complete perfectionist. You agonise over every thing you do. You are also slightly morbid, and are fascinated by sickness. All in all, ordinary in an extraordinary way. Good for you!

charles dickens
emily bronte
william thackray
jane austen

i dunno.. mine fit pretty well.. kinda sorta.. *grin*

Well it is sorta me...:)

You are Charles Dickens. You feel sorry for everyone. You are incapable of finding a grey area between good and evil. You are mentally and emotionally strong, and dug yourself out of poverty with your own genius... without feeling terribly sorry for yourself. You wrote rather more than would seem humanly possible. You are obsessed with social issues, and have a morbid fascination with London.

Ok, we can't all be Jane Austen, I mean I would never wear women's clothing. lol

I don't understand why someone who goes to the trouble of creating a test like this narrows the choices down so stereotypically. I could guess where each answer belonged before finding out the authors used. After more than two questions to which I could not answer using those displayed I gave up and just clicked randomly to see what a result looked like.

Hear! Hear!

My acquaintance with 19th century literature is woefully indadequate to make a complete list. But to only have four names during a time that saw such a tremendous expansion in publication and readership seems kind of silly.

Three that I thought should be on there: Mark Twain, Harriet Beecher Stowe and George Eliot. And what about the Brontes?
