I’m a little self-centered (in the same way the Pope is a little Catholic, at least that’s what they taught me at school) and so don’t read as widely on here as I might.

Given my time is somewhat limited (and recognizing that tastes differ) what author(s) would be worth me checking out? Authors, with a body of work, not just one strong story.

Genres:

  • Anal
  • BDSM
  • Erotic couplings
  • Fetish
  • Group Sex
  • Lesbian Sex
  • Toys & Masturbation
Em

PS I should have said ones I might learn from as well as enjoy for preference

My suggestion is to go to the category hubs and look for popular authors or go to the category toplists and scan the stories and try to get a feel for what you like.

My general observation from having participated in this forum for the last six years: It will be faster for you to try to answer questions like these with some well-focused research of your own than to rely upon the input from other authors, whose idiosyncratic views may be totally out of sync with yours.

Questions I would consider asking myself, if I were you:

1. How long do you like your stories?
2. Do you like standalone stories or chaptered stories?
3. Do you like heavy, serious stories, or light stories?
4. Do you like stories to be down and dirty or softer and more romantic?
5. What fetishes do you like? Be specific.
6. How important is good grammar to you? Prose style?
7. Is realism important or are you willing to get surreal or fantastic?
8. Do you like sex stories, or stories with sex? There's a difference.

Take some time to use the search feature to find what you want. Search for tags.

If you like Anal, I think RejectReality's Rim Fire was really good, and not too long.

For Toys, I'll pitch my contest-winning story Teddy Bear, but you have to like stories that are a bit nutty to like that one.

I must agree with Simon; a few more details would help.

In addition to his questions, are there any red flags for you? For instance, you said you like BDSM, which covers a lot of ground. Which paths do you wish to not go down? Do M doms turn you off, but F ones are cool?

I like both M and F doms. I occasionally switch, mostly to dominate a guy. Not into anything that draws blood or causes injury beyond a few red welts.

Personal favorite authors when it comes to lesbian romance:

JCMcNeilly (if you are currently reading "Hero Worship" it's a fantastic romantic D/s story, but love all their stuff)
BrokenSpokes (pick a story love them all)
Bramblethorn ("Anjali's Red Scarf" is a great D/s tale as well, "A Stringed Instrument", "AI: Loss Function")
AwkwardMD (The Portland Opera series, "The Long Haul", and "Terrible Company" i've enjoyed most)
bi_cathy
Salandar ("The Mechanic" and "The Trainer")
Jackie.O.Hikaru ("The Princess of Akaishi Castle" is excellent but a WIP)
WaxPhilosophic (lots of great stuff, several with a humorous side like the Amber from Marketing stories and "Tales from the Stream"
CreatingKate (the "fairy tale but make it gay" stories are a lot of fun)
GinnyPPC (only 1 full story published so far "Catering Girl" and a related one-off, but great reads)

Aww shucks, thanks for the mention!
I wish I could say I'm still diligently working on princess of akaishi castle, but I hit a severe writer's block for that one, so its currently on the back burner :(
I do hope to finish it someday though!

bi_cathy's story, "I Dare You" is an excellent page turner!

You are so welcome! That's not to say that I haven't greatly enjoyed your other stories... "A Spanish Alchemy" and "Naphele and Fay" were delightful...and "The Lollipop" was deliciously naughty.

"I Dare You" was very good...one I found the most intriguing of hers is definitely "I Know Where Your Tongue has Been"...I loved the reverse chronology in that.

I don’t want to brag, but if you like explicit lesbian stories, you might want to check out mine. 🙂 Almost all have a “Hot” rting from the readers.

Whoa, thanks for the mention among all those great writers of the Lesbian section!
I Dare You will always hold a special place in my heart, so it's awesome to see it still appreciated to this very day :)
