Where should I draw the line?

Dearest Ladies and Gents;

I find my self in a somewhat uncertain position regarding my next story. I would like to do a 'period piece' in the non-consent category with a Nazi soldier as the villian. A friend, who's opinion I respect greatly, said that it may make a lot of people unhappy. I do not wish to offend, but it is only meant as a piece of fiction. Is this something you would be interested in reading or would you find a story on this subject uncomfortable?

Thanks for your input on this!

Non-consensual sex and Rape

Literotica will not allow non-consenual sex and rape stories. I would suggest that you try other sites. I write stories also along those lines and I post on

Have you ever been to the story archives? There's a section titled "NonConsent."

Anyways, back on topic. Your friend is quite likely correct. Featuring a Nazi soldier as the villian is almost sure to make many readers, well... hate you. Personally, I wouldn't do it, but nonconsent really isn't my thing, so what would I know?

Powerone is mistaken. Literotica accepts non-consentual stories. I should know. I have a ten chapter non-consent novella posted here.

I don't see anything wrong with a Nazi villain. Hell, Steven Spielberg had Nazi villains. Twice or three times, even. It's a heck of a lot better than having a Nazi hero, right? I don't see why a story about a Nazi villain would make people hate you or even hate the story. I think it would depend greatly on the story.

I don't see the problem. The only people who I think would get offended by having a Nazi bloke as the villain would be Nazis. And they're a bunch of tits anyway, so who cares what they think.

If in doubt make it really obvious that he's evil. Interesting thought: Could you make a Nazi soldier the hero? Without getting mail-bombed in the process. Probably end up on my "Nice thought, but can't be arsed to write it" pile.

I can’t see a problem unless your using your story as a forum to preach hate. If in the end your villain becomes a hero then again a Nazi soldier would be a poor choice.

As far as it being something I’d like to read, no. I find most non-consent stories uninteresting. My taste would run more to a story that may start out as non-consent, but end up with consensual sex through means other then the use of force. Rape to me is not erotic!

I don't think you will have a problem unless you portray the character as representative of the German people as a whole. There is a large factual gap between the WWII propaganda-depicted Nazi and the German Army and people of the same time period. As long as you stick with the facts, I doubt many will see your character as anything more than a villian.

The same issues would be present if one chose to use a Native American, a southern plantation owner of the 1850's, or a KGB operative as a villian.

This is how Lit draws the line about rape. The story must be the victim's rape fantasy. Lit will not post rapist fantasy. In other words, the victim must enjoy it. The victim should not die in it either.

As far as the subject matter, you will not be the first do so. If you have a story, write it. If you can't deal with the hate mail it will generate, don't post it. Or don't post it with an available email address.

As long as you're writing within lit's nonconsent guidelines (see KM's post above me) I don't see the problem. Not my cup of tea, per se, but I certainly believe that you have the right to do so. I would be prepared for some negative comment as there are some people who read the stories who will send nasty feedback to you for your choice of subject matter. But hey...I was told my call girl heroine will get aids and die (guessing they missed the fiction part, eh?) and I merely roll my eyes at that sort of comment. Just ignore the judemental people and move ahead.

TT, here is my input.

It is not your job as a writer to make sure you don't offend anyone or even everyone. It is your job to write. Write the story. Yes you may receive some very nasty negative feedback and perhaps even worse. If this frightens you then post it under a psuedonymn and don't ever check the email address you give.

I'm currently reading Stephen King's "On Writing". It is an excellent book that I highly recommend. In it, one of his main guiding principals is "Tell the truth". What I believe he means is to always be true to the story. If you have a character who is a Nazi, write him as a Nazi. If you have a Southern White trash Bubba in your story write him that way. Don't worry about being offensive, if you do your job and tell the truth, then you are going to offend someone.

I agree with him and this sentiment. Write the story. If it's a good story then post it. If it's a great story then sell it. :)

Anyways, this is just what I think.

Thanks for your input

Ok...you guys and gals have definitely given me the guidance I needed. Thanks to you all.

I think I may just back-burner this project for a while and get a little more experience under my belt, per se. When I do finally tackle this I think I'll need both the finesse of some of the more experienced writers as well as a little thicker skin.

Well, back to Toby, I suppose - lol

I would say that if you are looking for a believeable villian then a Nazi is the way to go. Who the hell is going to be offended by a Nazi as the villian?

And why are you worried about upsetting anyone? Let's face it, people who come to this website to read stories aren't looking for "Little Women," unless the little women suddenly start a lesbian lickfest.

Write the damn story, post it, and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm a jew and I don't care if you use Nazi's. If your heroine is being tortured for racial or ethnic reasons you might get some people's backs up and the evil in your story would probably eclipse any erotic content though.

You guys are probably too young to remember, but at one time the Mad Nazi doctor or prison camp Commandant was a stock character in soft-core BDSM men's magazines.

The regretable fact is that some prison camps came pretty close to the kinds of BDSM fantasies you see written about here. Kind of makes you stop and think, doesn't it. Or does it?

As Georges Santyana put it, "There is nothing so pregnant as cruelty."
