In the sand. Did you know they have sand in Iraq? Apparently the Iraqi plan is to fight in the sand. Is the U.S. prepared for this? I don't think so. Expect many deaths.

Thanks, Lance, for pointing out the sand.

Are you kidding? The American military is notorious for shooting themselves in the foot. Doesn't matter where they are. Isn't that right Hanns?

Ahh so thats what that scratching whining noise I heard was.

Glad I don't have to get it full force.

I'm not saying that we don't have the smartest, strongest, best trained and most over all kick ass military in the world. I'm just saying there are a lot of ways to fuck up the most deadly game of Super Mario Bros. ever played.

If you knew anything about the military, you would know the US has an exceptional safety record.

Proof positive that you're a chairborne ranger.

Look up LTC John Daly and Umm Hajul. That's just one of the many incidents. We have an exceptional cover your ass record. Don't you ever think otherwise because doing so is just lying. The US military is not perfect and it needs a serious politician-less, liberal bleeding-heart civil rights activist-less overhaul.

It needs fewer MORONS is what it needs.

Unfortunately, after Clinton's drawdowns, that's pretty much all we have left, Sillymyman.

In NATO, America provides more than anyone else, whilst the others provide a token gesture of a few fighter planes.

This is not actually true. Other countries contribute a great deal. Canada has a large presence here. Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Belgium, Spain, UK, and a few others contribute personnel and materiel. Just not as much. Of course, their countries are much smaller.

Shutting up now.

I don't know. Stupid people have been the bane of every army since humanity has had war.

Hanns

You're right, the US does have a pretty good safety record but to put it bluntly, pretty good is not half good enough. There've been enough F*ups with new tech or old for that matter. And then there's that small stat of the last Gulf War, where the civillians who're charged with oversight of the military pretty much said that they doubted whether or not the enemy v. friendly fire deaths recorded were accurate. To make a long report short, they basically said that chances are we killed more Americans than the Iraqis.

Hans, you need to check your facts. Why don't you come over here and I'll show you first hand what NATO's all about. Hmm?

first off, I believe what you meant to say was that America is NATO. what you said, just didn't make sense.

and Hanns, if NATO's so American, then why are most of the handheld weapons used by NATO troops made in Belgium?

Or, for that matter, why does the US have to have naval ports in all those foreign countries? why didn't we just take them all over? ooh...and then there's that pesky lil' point that when it all comes right down to it, if there's ever another land MAJOR land war, it will be in ASIA, and NATO, Russia, and Japan won't mean shit without nukes, cause there's only about 10 times the amount of troops they could all put into the field in CHINA and all they have AK's which historically are the MOST reliable assault rifle known to man as opposed to the M-16 and it's replacements which average 1.26 jams per 100 rounds?
