Where is my "start conversation" button?

It's just not there, although I've gotten PMs in the past. I've seen it on other people's accounts. So what is going on? I did join many years ago. Also the "follow" and "ignore" buttons seem to be missing too.

If you look at my username, the "Find" button is there, but everything to the right of it is missing.

If you're looking at your own username, you aren't going to see it. Following, ignoring, and starting conversations with yourself are things you can do in real life but aren't common features of online tools.

Also, in the upper right corner, click on the envelope:



From there, you can enter a username.

Okay, I get it. Someone else is going to see it differently from what I see in my own account. Amazing I never considered that before.
