Martin Savage, as heard on the radio this AM, was given permission to let four young soldiers in the unit he was embedded with call home on his phone.

The first soldier said basically, Respectfully, sir, I would like to let my platoon commander have the call because his spouse is pregnant and he hasn't talked to her in three weeks.

Mr. Savage began to tear as the young man ran off and turned to the other three.

The next one said, With due respect, we would like to call the family of one of our fallen comrades to make sure they are okay.

With that he began to openly cry.

He asks in his column, Where do we get these kids?

Just everyday American kids, like Jessie. The kind the people of the world just love to hate.

To the world. Hate me. I don't want to be liked by the likes of you.

Now, you are just being silly...and, ummm, Jessie who?

It is nice to know that there still are some decent people in the world. Many of them you will find in the military as well.

Decent people are everywhere- it sounds like he ran into a few of them. :)
