really, truly 100% free ringtones, wallpaper, themes etc... They all claim to be but once you get reading they cost something or you need to join 8 different sites to get them..

i'm afraid i can't help you. frankly, i don't think such a thing exists... and it's a shame because the ringtones that came on my phone all suck (what the hell were they thinking??!?!?!!?!) but i have a fundamental objection to paying for such things.

What format are the ringtones in? What sort of phone? Often there are ways around these things. ;)

In this case it's a Motorola v551 and I am technically and computer illiterate so could easily screw up something that to you may think would easy. I am not crazy about purchasing them but even when you purchase from your carriers website they don't have tons. I wouldn't mind something like buying a prepaid card and just using it to purchase phone dowloads (wallpapers, games, ringers etc) similiar to an itune pre pay assuming you had tons to choose from and not just 20 or so

According to the review I just read, (still checking) it has mp3 ringtones which means you should be able to use just about anything you want, it would just need to be resized, I'm also looking into the composer part as well, I'll let you know.

Sometimes it's just a matter of sorting the shit from the bull, one review says it has a composer yet the manual doesn't mention one.
You should be able to install midi files as well as mp3 though, you should be able to get a load of these for nothing.

interesting. in my case there's no way to hook the phone to the pc so this isn't an option for me... i either have to get software from the phone manufacturer or get ringtones from the service provider. at least i don't THINK it's possible to make that connection. i'm curious to learn about this though.

Two heads are better than one (you know on this site that just has a whole different meaning) make and model?

don't know if this helps or not:

G/Fs oldest daughter bought a patch cord, USB on one end, connector for her phone on the other.

She uses iTunes to load her own ringtones through some software she got with the cord.

Changes ringtones quite often. Never know what we're going to hear when someone calles her.

Moto sells a program for about $30 that can interface with the phone, unfortunately the driver is provided with this software. Windows will not recognize it. Use USB or blue tooth. I use this with my RAZR.
