Where are we on the Duke LaCrosse team now?

No DNA evidence was found. If she was raped like she described, there definitely would be DNA evidence. Prosecutor says he's still going to try the case "the old fashioned way" like they did before there ever was DNA evidence. Good Luck.

That prosecutor needs his ass kicked.

There is now a released audio tape of the first officer to come into contact with her. He radios in that she is passed out and looks unharmed or somethiing. I just heard it on the news a bit ago.

He's running for re-election, he needs the press time.

I know, that's what I was referring to. It's a race to the line to see whether hsi constituents see this farce for what it is - another Tawana Brawley incident - or whether they'll re-elect him on his demagogery.

It's a shame if she lied but Im grooving on the bad press these rich spoiled dweebs are getting and its cool the coach quit too.

ahahaha.

On the lovely similarity of running for re-election and press time.... I have the right to resist arrest.

But, but, but, the allegations are SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The allegations are serious, and should always be treated so.

If this is a sham . . . maybe she should be prosecuted.

At the risk of blowing my record I'm calling this a demented woman with a chip on her shoulder. Another Cindy Sheehan with race on her mind.

What I'm wondering is when will the natiional press quit falling for this shit?

Yeah, spoiled rich dweebs deserve to be falsely accused and have their names dragged through the mud and a innocent bystander lose his job.

It's a sick mind that gets off on that.

Check the Flight 93 thread for confirmation of your diagnosis, doc.

You should probably know how to define the word "race" before using it in your posts, Ish.

I'd make a SIGNIFICANT wager with you this instant that it is a sham.

She may be charged, but she'll walk with some 'counseling.' But where is the justice for the coach? Or the players?

This piece of shit is being tried in the press and the DA is playing it for all he's worth. If you ask me, he's the one to be charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced. Sure as hell would put a damper on overzealous prosecutors.

AA stock is looking real good.

Ishmael

It does seem to look that way.

The thing that pisses me off, if this does end up being a sham, is that when it happens for real to some poor woman, she might be afraid to come forward for fear of being thought of as another bullshitter.

It's a personal issue for me. I've dated a rape victim in the past. The baggage she carried . . . well, it wasn't pretty. The idea that someone would make up this kind of thing . . . disgusts me.

Yeah, well that's been dragged across the board before too. Remember Kobe Bryant?

About the only positive aspect I saw this time around was that there wasn't a myriad (But I'm not here all the time) of threads started by women calling for a lynch mob.

Never. Or more correctly, they don't actually fall for it. They take advantage of it.

The national press, in all its forms, are corporations. It's their job to do whatever they can to sell news and make money. They answer to their stockholders just like any other corporation does, and their interest first and foremost is the bottom line. That they might do what isn't in the public interest in order to make money is simply their nature. There is nothing about a corporation that makes it socially responsible or irresponsible. Such a notion is alien to them.

Funny how conservatives think that it's okay for other major corporations to do that, but grouse about how the press does it. If people point out the widening gap in growth between corporate profits and individual wages (as lavy did in an earlier thread today) conservatives come crawling out of the woodwork to defend corporations as simple legal entities made up of "average guys". But when a corporation does something that grates against the ideals of the right rather than the left, well hell, they're obviously deliberately taking the wrong side in the great struggle of good verses evil.

Bullshit. They're doing what all corporations do. They sell their product without regard to the public interest at all. The only interest they're concerned with depends on their bond rating.

Stop listening to Rush. The man is demented. He's right, of course, in calling the press "drive by" but utterly wrong in understanding why. Why is it okay for Exxon to do whatever it takes to make money, but not the press? Why can't you guys see they're one and the same, only playing different sides of the court?
