So ever time I look at someones profile theres this bit that reads "______ is not a member of any public groups".

And is seams like nobody I have seen so far in the 12 years I've been on lit is a member of any group.

So where are these groups? And why doesn't anybody join them? Why have them if nobody joins?

Just curious, but if anyone knows please share.
Thanks,
~Spaz~

Public (and private) groups are features inherent in vBulletin, but not enabled here at Literotica. In fact, I've only seen one vBulletin based forum that did have them enabled, and they soon disabled them because of the time forum admins have to invest in them to make them work.

They wouldn't be terrible useful here, as far as I can see. But then I don't see much use in buddy lists or keeping 500 old private messages either. <shrugs>

cool thanks

Right on,ask and you receive. I like that,my mission is accomplished as fast as it started.
Thianks for the 411Harold.

I came here from the Role Players Guild, which -- at one time -- had operated with vBulletin and had had Public Groups.

What was nice about Groups was this: you could have a whole slew -- or is it slough? -- of threads that were all connected to one another and could be easily found in one place, a Group List.

This was very helpful if you wanted to create a Group RP. The draw back to GRPs is that when you have a dozen writers all writing over the top of one another, it's hard to keep up with the individual, separate interactions taking place.

For example:
  • The role play is a Wild Wild West town, such as the RP I am creating.
  • There are 20 characters, some of whom are posting, others of whom are not.
  • Bill and Chloe are having sex...
  • Marshall Bob is attempting to jail Max the Bandit...
  • Jewels is on the stage entertaining a pair of horny cowboys...
  • And Carl and Lee are playing poker, with the winner getting the other's horse.
  • You couldn't follow all 4 of these interactions if they were all being posted simultaneously in one thread. You would surely miss something important. That's why so few big GRPs begin, and why many of those that do are quickly reduced to 2 or 3 regular writers.
  • But if, as each interaction began, it was written in a separate thread that was linked to the main RP thread; and only those two (or three) characters wrote in those separate threads, then you could follow along.
  • And as each interaction concluded, such conclusion would be noted and the thread would end.
  • Simple to write, simple to read.
  • And all 4 threads are right there in the Group List, such that you don't have to go search for them in the Literotica forums.

Groups would allow writers to more easily write RPs that are multi-player/multi-character in nature. I know that isn't very common on a site like Literotica, where RPs are usually two writers with one character each, having sex. But it would be nice if the ability was there.
