Do you simply tell them to call you back, or do you leave a long, detailed message, or even a story, about what you wanted to talk about with them?

I'm in the former category, unless it's something important, Then I tell them why I'm calling, but I try not to make the message too long. I never understood the point of telling a long detailed story to a machine.

Well, I usually just leave my name, please call me back or I'll call you back, and whether it was important or not.

Though, I did once hit the redial button expecting to get my hubby and ended up with PC's answering machine. So I left a detailed message for him. In Korean. :)

I'm usually very quick. I just say to call back when ever they can...or maybe I might just let them know I was thinking of them and just wanted to say 'hi'.

Was that you that called then? You forgot to leave your name!

Short message, or call me back. And I hate it when people keep calling, but won't leave a message.

I'm like you. But I have a friend that goes on, and on and on when he leaves a message.....lol. They usually have his entire life story by the time he's finished.

So silly he is.

Unless its an emergency,I usually dont leave a message.

Most everyone has caller id and would know that it was me.

i'm horrible. i always leave a detailed message..with usually a few jokes sprinkled in. (at least the first time i get the message thingy)

I don't leave messages. If they're so backwards and don't have Caller ID then they don't deserve to know I called, LOL.

I hate it when people say their number fast on messages. Have some consideration and say it slow or repeat the bloody thing!

Yesterday I got home and someone had talked so long that my voicemail cut them off.

Sorry Storm- I'll remember to leave my name next time! I still want to know who your brown-eyed girl is.

It depends on why I am calling as to what I say, and I never leave my number. I figure for me to even call them, they already know it. :) I seldom call anyone.

Depends... if I'm calling for a reason, I'll quickly explain why. But usually it's just "Hey, it's Nicki. Call me back. Bye."

I have a friend that leaves LONG messages on my voicemail though. If the vm cuts her off, she'll call back and continue with her story. I think her record is 4 recordings. Somehow I love her for it though.

:)

Island Man -- I love your AV. ;)

I usually just make a really long noise that sounds alot like a dial tone. Maybe you've gotten my messages before?????

I have never left a message on a answering machine in my life. Ever.

I don't have caller ID on my home phone. I figure if someone calls and doesn't leave a message, the purpose of the call couldn't have been that important in the first place! And you're right, I'll never know that they called. No skin off my nose that way. :)

It depends on the person who I am calling.........

I am world famous at my job for leaving long detailed
messages on voice mails........but its all work related
stuff that's important..........

With friends.......all I do is just tell them to call me back
as soon as they could.....or...if its super important or
an emergency I go into some detail as necessary.

Most often short ones if anything at all.

The exception being several of us that leave jokes on each others voice mail, my cell stays off during the day so its always like finding a rainbow when I turn in on and there is laughter waiting for me.

Example: "Hello sweetie, this is Sweet Mama over at Maybelle's Whore Imporium, we had somebody call and tell us about this special thing you can do. Can you come give my girls lessons?"

my best friend leaves 5 minute phone messages. i love it, it makes me grin every time. i on the other hand try to keep it short and sweet so as to avoid sounding like an idiot.

Is there something you want to tell me? Hmmm? Lol. ;)

Okay -- I *promise* not to use up your answering machine tape anymore. :p
