your post count doesnt go down if threads get deleted.

the other forum i am a reg at is just like this one. Even the same provider I think and the moderators in there do there job daily, deleting crappy threads and posts that dont needa be around. Post counts dont go down at all.

Really? See, there once was a man named Lasher who began a thread that went on for ages and pages. He got all pissy and deleted the thread. Everyone began bitching because their post totals went down. See, back in the dark ages, we didn't have neverending-type-one-word threads. We actually had to have something to say. So the delete your own post feature was removed.

Or did you not wonder why that was not possible?

Of course, this is a new BB format, the delete the thread and dump post totals business may not be a problem. I suggest we have the lil' brandi thread deleted to find out. Hey, we can always start a new one, right?

*Raises hand, guilty of posting on some of those threads* I usually add my few posts to each of those every day after I have read the other threads.

Interesting concept though, as an experiment, it would be interesting to see if my post total were less if those threads were deleted, and by how much they would be decreased.

The interesting one's are the unintentional ones.

Blue's and bratcat's - I don't think they were meant to be what they've turned into....

If a post was deleted, it would affect your account. I know this only because when the occasional spammer registers and then posts the same spam to every forum, and we go through and delete them all because we hate spam (HATE spam, really hate it!), that poster's total goes to zero.

However, if I move a bad thread to the archives, it doesn't affect your total because no post was deleted.

So the post count next to your name is the number of actual posts you've made that are still physically on the BB, including the archive.

Yes, they do. When I was Mod to the personals and deleted posts/threads for whatever reason, numbers went down. I've even seen my numbers go down do to deletions.
