Baked a cake or played with your children?

It's 7pm here right now and my young daughter and I have just baked a banana cake to take to Kiwi Wolfs for morning tea tomorrow.

So when was the last time you baked a cake or played with your children?

Ok ok, for those of you that do not bake or have children, when was the last time you played with yourself?

I baked a cake last Saturday.

I played with children on Tuesday morning, just before they went to their dad's.

I miss them.




Oh! And i haven't played with myself in nearly two weeks.

Well I baked cookies last night, well ok 3 o'clock this morning. I don't have children but I played with my niece and nephews last weekend.

I played with my daughter today. We played sign language games.. and drew on the side walk with chalk..I played on the swing set with her and we made snow cones together.

Don't have any kids of my own, at least I am pretty sure I don't but the last time I played with kids was this last weekend. It seems I have a knack for keeping the young ones occupied while the rest of the family, and the kids mom's and dad's hang around and shoot the shit at family functions. Not that I mind, I quite enjoy being around the little devils but whats the family gonna do when I am old enough to start drinking at the functions. Guess they will end up having to watch them unless I feel like playing with them.

Okay, no baking done here and it's too hot anyway. Been in the 90's for a couple days.

But i play with my kids. Yes, indeed. Sorta.

I read with and to my little guy, and i do it at least every night (that i have him) before his bedtime. Additionally, we go on walks, he and i. We discuss the flora and fauna of our area as we walk. We draw on the driveway with chalk. He reads billboards to me, my 5 year old son, or tries to, while we're driving places. We race up the stairs and i tickle his tummy just to hear his wonderful laughter.

I go shopping with my big girl. That's how we play, mostly; she likes to shop, my almost 14 year old baby girl. We go to the mall together and spend a couple hours there. Often she will come down and hang in the kitchen with me while i'm making dinner, and then we talk. Sometimes, still, she will hold my hand when we're walking in public - but that time is passing, sadly. It'll return though; i hold my mother's hand again, now.






Sounds pathetic.
Maybe i don't play with my kids.
Maybe i'm a bad mom.

I doubt your a bad mom. There is more to being a good mom than just playing with your kids. There is also having fun with, loving and teaching them, be it life lessons or general knowledge, and you seem to have those covered.

I'm gonna get to play with my little people next week They aren't MY kids exactly, but I love my sibs.

It's been a while since I've done any baking, although I made a white choclate and almond cake not too long ago.

One week ago today I played with my two sons but did not make my punks a cake ..Punks is a name I call them both and they love it so no i am not being mean..I only get them everyother weekend and when the ex is in a good mood I see them during the week for a few hours..I wish I could play with them more but I will take what I can get

i save the baking for the winter but i did get to play with my daughter last weekend. of course she's 23 and "playing" consisted of taking her into town to get her 5th tatoo, taking her shopping to get something for my sister's birthday, and then taking all of them to the club for dancin' and drinkin'. lots of dancin' and lots and lots of drinking. damn, it's expensive to play with my "little one" nowadays.

My children are married and almost 30. Hopefully someday I will be able to play with grandchildren.
