I'm an NBC guy. CNN uses the term breaking news to imply something that just happened in the world.

Paula Zahn-"Waitaminute, we have breaking news coming out of CNN headquarters. It appears as though a toaster has caught on fire in a small suburb just outside of St. Paul Minnesota. We're going to go to our affliate to see if we can get a look at the toaster, the home it was in, or the owners to get some idea of what happened."

LMAO

I agree about the trigger-happiness of CNN.

Me, I look for Dan Rather first. He reports like a human being. I was impressed with him when I saw him cry over the loss of JFK Jr. Since then, he's had my attention for ANY breaking news. Most newsmen are so aloof and careful of what they say. Dan Rather is real.

Tom Brokaw runs a very close second.

Fox News, all the way. I trust no other channel for my news. As far as web sites go, I turn to Fark to get the latest big stories and follow the appropriate links from there.

NBC, usually. Today it was CNN as they had the news first before the networks.

I started watching NBC during Desert Storm and I've been loyal since then.

CNN but only when something newsworthy is actually happening, they tend to have the best live feeds. That's if I'm in a house with cable though. Otherwise, the networks do okay with that stuff too.

Rest of the time, newspapers are better, and you can read the NY Times online for free.

It's good to know I can read a news paper online for free considering the ridiculously high 75 cent price of the paper.

I turn to FOX news on tv, and if I'm online, I check out Drudge. On radio I listen to the local talkradio station. They're always on top of everything.

I'm a CNN/ABC gal. I normally flip between the two. I believe ABC has far superior news to the other major networks. I would give NBC the next nod, then CBS and then FOX. I hate FOX.

I like MSNBC for some reason. It just seems to be the news source I like to go with.

I catch most things on the Internet first.

If it seems important I'll check CNN. When they start repeating themselves (like this morning), I check ABC.

ABC didn't have much to offer when I flipped over there this morning, so I checked out Fox News.

Fox News had a very soothing anchor team, but had problems with the details - like when their crawl said the shuttle exploded at an altitude of 200,000 miles.

So I went back to CNN, which was still repeating the same things, so I returned to the Internet.

When I learned about the crash today, I learned from Lost Cause's thread. I turned on the radio and began to cruise the internet.

None of the local radio stations even mentioned it, but they were all excited about the snowboarding jump contest at the local resort!

Sorry for the rant, Shaq - I was just amazed by that!!

ABC , Peter Jennings

NBC , Tom Brokaw

Those are my top two.. for all my news.

I became a CNN junky during Desert Storm.I thought they had the best international news coverage.

I gave it up after it became the Simpson News Network.

I was listening to NPR news as I worked when the story broke 9/11 & today. I find them less sensational & more balanced than other sources, & easier to find wherever I am than the BBC. I also think NPR does one of the better jobs of selecting experts.

I lost respect for Fox when they lead with a "Sniper had Army training!" quip.

I avoid breaking news...no perspective, and everyone rushes to be the most sensational. I'll turn to the print media before I'll watch TV.

CNN in the begining. Then NBC. But I did have a feeling to go to the internet. You can find anything on here. But I stayed glued to the tv for a while.
