Do you ever get that feeling when the muse arrives? You haven't heard from him/her/it for weeks/months/years? Then you're doing something else, maybe you type just a few words, and out of nowhere, the Muse shows up? They're standing in the corner of your room, you never saw them, but they pipe up and say, "Hi. I know you're busy but why don't you stop everything and write down these 1000 words (or more) I just came up with for you?"

Just curious how everyone else experiences those moments...

I just commented over in the "crush on your characters" thread how I love it when a new character hurtles up from my subconscious, and I can't wait to write the next chunk of text.

I could write for hours, but I have a spouse who doesn't know I write, so that's hard to do. So it's stealing time to be with my latest crush, which can be a delicious tease, and frustrating as all get out, because, ooooo!

My muse shows up with a large ruler and whacks me until I start writing. I've been whack-free for a while, kinda missing the spankings...
