When and where do you "LIT" ?

It's the weekend and I've noticed it's been quiet on LIT. Which made me wonder... When do you usualy LIT (visit the LIT forum) and where do you do it? At home, at work? In the morning, sipping your coffee or at night when the kids (and or SO) are in bed? Do you usually LIT because and if you have a question that needs answers or do you just browse to whatever is out there?

so you're really asking when, where and WHY do you lit... right? ;)

i check in several times a day... but ALWAYS at 10:30pm. i'm a schedule freak to some people.

i visit lit from both work and home... but these are the same general area... just a different room or time of day. anything after 5pm is home regardless of what room i'm in. ;)

i'm not entirely sure WHY i visit lit. like a lot of members, i guess i lurked around a while, began feeling comfy enough to register, gravitated to HT (as that's where all the cool people are anyway), started posting, made some friends and now it's just part of my day... by that i mean both the site AND the people.

the members i've "met" aren't friends in the sense that i know them and we hang out but i do feel a little close to a few members... close enough to be myself and sort of share things with them that i don't on the forum itself.... and i get genuinely interested in what they do with their lives so there's a kind of friendship there, inasmuch as you can have a cyber friendship i guess.

in any case... i guess that's mostly WHY i visit lit... for the people and for the people i chat with outside the realm of the forums. plus, it's one place where i totally don't feel like i have to watch myself and there's a lot of mutual respect around that supercedes any kind of formal monitoring of who says/does what.

My hubby and I have two computers; one's in our bedroom.

In the morning, sipping your coffee or at night when the kids (and or SO) are in bed?
I'm here occasionally during the day. I'm almost always on after the kids have gone to bed. My husband, who's a nonposting member of Lit, is usually in our room. If not, he's in the living room watching TV, reading, or listening to music. If I come across a post or a thread that I think he'll be interested in, I'll draw his attention to it.

My Lit schedule's going to be changing in the next day or so. My kids start school Tuesday, so I can't stay up as late as I have been.

Do you usually LIT because and if you have a question that needs answers or do you just browse to whatever is out there?
I spend most of my time on the HT board because I like most of the people who post here. When I log on, I see what's going on here first. If it's slow, I lurk (and occasionally post) in other areas.

And what, you wouldn't hang out with me? You're too good for me, aren't you? Well, fine then! See if I care, bitch!

;)

When the mood strikes...

I usually go on for a few days at a time, mostly in the evening. then I give it a rest, and might be off-line for a while.

Aw.... that's OK EJ Fan.... I'm sure you must ;)

.... I'm starting to 'get to know' some people in the sense that I know their style and see who interacts with who and I enjoy that very much. So small sidetracks like these only make me smile.

Yes, EJ Fan (that's funny by the way.... my initials are EJ and I'm so glad I had a fan on LIT, if I remember well you were the one who welcomed me in the introductions thread, from the start... :p ), that was my question exactly. It's just that when I read from some people a lot I start to get a picture in my mind and can almost see them sitting behind their computers. It's not something I NEED to know or anything but it's just fun to see if your thoughts were right and get to know a little more about people. Hope this makes sense...

You see, I came to LIT a few months ago per accident (now that does not sound nice, but it's the truth). M and I were downloading (yes, shame on us) some porn from eighter Pornbits or Pure TnA and came across LIT because someone mentioned it in a forum there. First I thought it was *only* stories but then I saw the forum and HT cought my attention. I thought it was great because of the variety of topics (serious v/s light) and the variety of people (young but certainly also older, men and especially also lots of women (do we, well you LIT moderators etc. actually) know what that percentage is by the way?

So I started to read and thought: "this is great, there's many questions and answers I was curious about and it's not always something you ask over coffee with your mum or a friend".... :D I'm not sure when I first posted (guess I could look it up in my profile) but it didn't take too long.

Now, I'll answer my own question.... I visit LIT a few times a day (/night). M is not a registered member but I share a lot with him about what's happening on LIT. Sometimes it makes good conversation-material for us, not that we necessarily need it ;) .... it's like the extra's on a DVD ... :D

Since I'm temporarily out of a job I only visit LIT from home. I don't think I would be able to visit LIT from a computer at work since most companies are very strict about this in NL and will filter internet-use. That's OK though, I understand. M works for a worldwide known company and can't access LIT from work, for instance. During the day (we are on IM quite frequently) I'll share some LIT stuff that amuses of amazes me sometimes and I'll draw his attention to some threads to read from home at night and/or during the weekend, much like Eilan I guess.

We have three notebooks in the house (one for every floor I guess, NO! we're not addicted!!! :D ) but I usually use the one in our computerroom upstairs. I noticed this weekend (checking in on internet and LIT every now and then to see what's new) that it was kinda quiet... So that made me wonder if a lot of people "LIT" from work and/or during the (working-)week only...

OK, maybe you weren't even interested so I'll stop. But I was (and still am) so keep your replies coming. Thanks! :rose:

I "Lit" while I'm studying... Ususally from cyber cafe's or Venice beach.

There's a string of hotels in Ocean Front Walk with Wireless internet access. It's pretty cool. Now only if they provided power for my laptop! :D

Venice Beach....... ah....

[wanders off daydreaming]

i visit here from work primarily and sometimes at home. i come here to see what's going on and specifically to HT & the HT cafe b/c i like the people here. it's slightly less psychotic than the GB, which has too many people and moves too fast for my tastes. i view this as sorta like the quiet neighborhood pub w/out the liquor license. bar philosophy at all hours of the day--what's not to like about that? :>

I agree, yes. I have posted one time on the GB, but like the name says it's just too General for my taste. I also visit HT & HT Café mainly. I must confess I don't even read the stories, which is, I think, the first and main purpose (or how do you call that) of this site...

Bar philosophy yes.... but on the other hand (and maybe it's different for girls/women.... if I strarted talking to a stranger about some of the topics from LIT in a bar, chances would be the women would think I'm a sexcrazed chick (which I am maybe, I don't know) or men might consider it a coming on to them....?

they might think that, or they might simply think, "hm. she likes talking about sex. bet she'd be a lot of fun..." w/out assuming any interest on your part.

Guess so, but you never know. In my experience....? I'm fairly open minded, I like to joke (also about sex), I don't hesitate to speak my mind and I'm not shy. But it has happened men thought that I was automatically in for more than talking. No real problems but it made me more careful.

yeah, i can see how that could cause some confusion. of course, i also suspect in your case there's probably some amount of wishful thinking on their part... :D

In my case..... mmmmm... you're too kind. Maybe it depends on where you live too. People are just more cocky in the bigger cities I guess. And they tend to assume more....

Sorry about the earlier hijack. :)

Now, I'll stay on topic - promise. :D

My lit schedule isn't /very/ scheduled, but usually I would come on after I got back from work around 4:30ish, and again at night.

The beginning of the summer I was lit-ing pretty much constantly. :D
And now that work has ended, I'll probably be around to check in in the daytime, again. But, hopefully I won't resume my old always-on-lit thing (which was more due to the fact that I was going through a med change, had zero energy, blah blah blah...).

As for why? Well, lots of reasons...
I think I certainly wouldn't keep coming back if I didn't like the people. Not that I like all of them, mind you (because some of them are stupid jerks like EJ :p).
There are plenty of things to be amused about, and plenty of interesting stuff to learn.
Plus, talk about momentary ego boosts every time I check my am pics thread...people here are extremely flattering and kind. :D

So to clarify, when I said I felt much the same way Silverwhisper does, I meant his post regarding the people here on the HT, the GB, etc.

As much as I hate the GB, I love it, too. If you're ever bored, I really recommend it - as long as you don't get too involved or take anything to seriously, its good for a laugh.

Plus, you can be the biggest bitch ever, and thats the norm over there. :D
