Mike Nesmith.....that's why he snubs the reunions....he's so rich.

Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young, when they can tie him down long enough) not only auditioned for the Monkees and was turned down(he didn't meet "teen idol" standards), he's the one that suggested Peter Tork audition.
Yes, Mike Nesmith's mom invented Wite-Out, but that's not why he doesn't tour (he did the 20th anniversary tour, after all). He is a HUGE producer/director of music videos and directed the recent reunion movie.
God, I love bubble gum trivia.

Here's one: What musical group is the first credited with using the moog synthesizer on an album?

Cinderella's slipper was originally fur, not glass. It was a mistake when the story was translated from the french.

Next question, how many eggs does a peacock lay?

I thought you were talking about the band Presidents of the US.

I KNOW that Monkee thing, damn it, but I can't remember it!

A peacock doesn't lay eggs.

A peahen however... probably depends on the day. <grin>

And yes, Sandy is a goldfish. I have the Mindtrap game too.

Here's a classic from that one:

Rearrange the letters in NEW DOOR to spell one word.

pantoufles en vair - slippers of squirrel fur - got translated as if en verre (glass).

Really? that's interesting -- I didn't know that. Do you know what color Dorothy's shoes were in the Wizrd of Oz books? Not ruby...

I know it was the War of 1812, I'm just not up on my forts. Fort Courage?

Ok here is one:

Let's see...how about Fort McHenry for the fort Key was writing about and....Wilmington, N.C. for the most hit city over the past four years...

What was significant about the owner of the house at Appomatox Court House used when Lee surrendered to Grant in the American Civil War?

"What was significant about the owner of the house at Appomatox Court House used when Lee surrendered to Grant in the American Civil War?"

Hey I know this one ManOSafety...The man that owned the house where Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomatox Court House, Virginia on April 9, 1865 had moved there not long after his previous house near Manassas Jct. Virginia had been damaged during the first major land battle of the Civil War, the First Battle of Bull Run in 1861...so in a way it could be said that the U. S. Civil War started in his front yard, and ended in his parlor

And you're right about the fort whose flag inspired Key to write the Star Spangled Banner, it was Ft. McHenry in Baltimore Harbor. What's also interesting about that flag is that it had 15 stars AND 15 stripes.

And...Special K, I'd answer that ONE WORD question of yours but I don't wanna give it away

Let's add a couple more trivia items:

First, what actress played Sam the Phone Girl on the TV show Richard Diamond starring David Jansen?

Second, regarding the war between the states circa 1860, why is the term Civil War inaccurate and what would be the appropriate term? And in the same vein, over what question was the war fought?

Mary Tyler Moore was the phone girl "Legs" -- you only saw her legs. There was a sequel where she played her older sister "Inner Thigh", but Mary Tyler didn't want to show Moore.

Ok, rearrange the letters in the following phrase to make a new one;

year two thousand.

Technically, a Civil War is within one country, not between two. War Between the States is an acceptable title for this conflict, which was over the individual States' rights (especially the one to seceed from the Union.) If you take the view that they could seceed, then use War Between the States. If (as most Yankees are) you are of the view that they were not allowed to seceed, and were only in rebellion, then Civil War is acceptable as a title. Of course, most of my neighbors simply refer to it as the War of Yankee (or Northern) Aggression, or simply The War.
Contrary to popular belief it was NOT about slavery or abolition, the US government was quite willing to allow the institution of slavery continue, in fact, even after the Emancipation Proclamation, only those slaves in areas that were in open rebellion and NOT under Union Army control were freed. If you were a slave in Maryland, Delaware, Missouri, West Virginia, Kentucky, or (Occupied) Tennessee, you were SOL.

Here's my Trivia question.

How many American Battleships were permanently destroyed at Pearl Harbor? And don't just guess at numbers, I want names too.

2 pops into my head, Arizona and Utah. But I'm too lazy to actually look it up.

Ok, Hockey question:

How many NHL players (and name them), have scored goals even strength, short handed, on the power play, penalty shot, and into an empty net in a single game?? (That's 5 goals scored 5 different ways).

Ok, another question for you hstory buffs and in honor of our new gold dollar coin:

From what indian nation did Sacajawea come?

You got Arizona right Lasher, but Utah (which was sunk, and is still at Pearl) was decommissioned as a Battleship and being used as a target (for dummy rounds). Bet it was real interesting being on a ship that the rest of the fleet gets to shoot at for fun!)

Alright everyone... Time to get culturally educated... What two words from the Filipino language has contributed to the English language?

Sosan, you have stumped me with that one, I will have to look that one up and get back to you.
