What's with the short description?

When you publish a story on Lit., there's a field called "Short Description." It contains the text that will show up when your works are listed, etc. That field is now even shorter than it used to be. It's a real struggle to come up with a short description.

60 characters maximum has been the standard since I started publishing here about four years ago. Not sure if it used to be longer, but I often play with the wording to squeeze my description into the allowable length.

I'm not aware that the character limit is shorter than it used to be. Is that correct? I've never had an issue with the descriptions. Is there a specific one you are wrestling with?

I do read them, but a typo is unforgivable and puts me off the story. If you can't manage 60 characters without buggering it up, what hope is there for the story?
