This is probably further along than we think:

Air Force Could Test "Flying Aircraft Carriers" as Early as Next Year

The movies were right: Gremlins are real.

Or at least they will be if DARPA -- the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency -- has anything to say about it. As we learned this week from our friends at the Navy Times , DARPA is moving ahead on its effort to create a fleet of flying aircraft carriers, which it calls the "Gremlins" program, with demonstration flights scheduled to begin sometime next year.

Seems like a cool enough concept but the mothership in question needs to be large enough to handle the drones in question.

Hmmmm....started this project more than 2 yrs ago? Bet that just rubs your balls wrong. That means....no....it cant be true...this was started when the other administration was calling the shots lol.

Obama had no qualms whatsoever about blowing people up with drones as I recall. :)

Neither did I really. What I could never understand was why he had severe qualms about "torturing" them by shoving them up against a wall or keeping them awake by playing loud music.

Go figure.

About time we got back to this concept. Now when can I get my flying car? Or maglev train in the USA we could use a few.
