sunday, i somehow managed to lose my wallet. i don't understand how that happened, but it did. within the wallet was my social security card (stupid, i know, i won't be doing that again), my $309 NJ transit monthly train pass, my driver's license and my ATM card. there was maybe $20 or so in it as well but hey, it's a twenty, not particularly broken up about that.
after retracing my steps quite a bit (and killing my ATM card), i resigned myself to the fact that it was a loss. i bought daily tickets monday in the hopes that the wallet might turn up, but no dice. i bought a new monthly pass yesterday morning and was thisclose to going out and buying a new wallet last night.
so imagine my surprise last night when the phone rang at 11 pm. we have caller ID and the caller wasn't someone that we knew. then the phone rang again 2 minutes later. the mrs picked up the phone.
turns out someone else in the area found my wallet, found my personal cards and called to return it.
that, after watching a charlie brown christmas last night, has put me in the most remarkably good mood.
