I cooked Ethiopian for friends right before Christmas and since then I've been thinking how that Ethiopian lentil and sweet potato curry/stew I like to make as a part of the Ethiopian feast would make for an awesome soup, too.

I made it today. It was absolutely heavenly, but looked a bit unappetizing I guess. I served it with a dollop of yoghurt and cilantro, topped with a squeeze of lemon and it was just delicious.

There's more left for tomorrow, yay.

Premade mushroom pizzas to which I have added sausages, olives, pineapple and more cheese :D

I'll be opening a very nice bottle of wine to go with my cheap pizza ha ha ha ...

I took said hambone, simmered overnight and made a split pea soup! First one ever, and it was SO good! Snow + home made soup = GOOD day! :D

Steak and salad...I can taste the prepared horseradish already YUM!!

I have been craving it for days now but was stuck in Turkey-ville LOL.

I'm sure there's a saying somewhere according to which the first bread(roll) you make each year predicts how the entire year is going to turn out. Sounds like something people in ye olden days would have believed in.

I made bread rolls to go with lunch and they turned out excellent, thus my year is going to be excellent.

Right?

Pork roast and sauerkraut, my traditional New Year's Day food. I dredge and brown the roast before I cook it, caramelize the sauerkraut and serve it all with mashed potatoes. So I begin my new year with the torture of delicious smells all day, and waiting to reward my taste buds. I can live with anything that foreshadows :D

That's what we should be having ("food from the Homeland!" as my kids say) but I think I'm going to make a roast pork tenderloin with smoky chipotle salsa glaze, jalapeno-cheddar potatoes, and a salad.

Well I wouldn't walk away from that table, either :D

And breakfast!!! Go teamwork! Three-cheese omelets with chorizo and bacon with the same chipotle salsa. My mouth is wiiiide awake!

Someone was kind enough  to force black eyed peas upon me, because I don't eat the "proper" Good Luck food. I ate them. I still don't like them :l

Meeks can make one cup cake at a time iirc. That's pretty impressive. I've never tried to scale down so much

That single cupcake was baked in the oven and not in a mug, so it was a little different. The idea is the same though, I love the recipes that require no egg because it feels wasteful to use just the yoke. :) I like working in just tablespoons, though. So easy and it's instantly gratifying. It's just terrible when what I really want isn't to eat sweets but to enjoy other... Things.
