It's popcorn for dinner.

Last night it was cheesecake.

A little Sleepytime tea

To stop another heartache.

Lemon bars, oh such lemon bars.

I bought too many lemons when planning to make blueberry lemon bread, so they had to go into something.

The house currently smells like baking sugar and lemons. Never have been a fan of lemon bars but hubby adores them, so I'm giving them a go.

it's too late to be eating right now, but I just finished watching an episode of Supernatural, and I have this pervasive curiosity about "pickle chips."

I've looked at the grocery store for them, and couldn't find anyone that makes them, so I guess I'll have a go at making them tomorrow. The recipe looks simple enough.

"Inquiring minds..." and all that.

Wasn't hungry, so just yogurt with honey and granola. So I guess I just had dessert for dinner tonight :)

My fresh strawberries were becoming not so fresh so I made strawberry syrup. o(^_^)o

It's great for strawberry milk, topping ice cream, and I'm thinking about drizzling some over the whole wheat muffins I made. So yummy!

I'd shared my pie with you. ;)

Not tonight! Salad with ginger dressing, miso glazed salmon, rice and tender crisp veggies. No room for dessert! Next time you should try a chocolate pecan pie. Mmmmmmmmmmm.... now there is something I would skip dinner for :D

Farfalle with bolognese sauce, garlic bread, green salad, peppers, tomatoes and coleslaw. Followed by butterscotch pudding.

Seasoned and grilled ribeye topped with crumbled bleu cheese, grilled asparagus and onions, scalloped potatoes, and a pint of Old Speckled Hen. Meal nirvana achieved.

With no dessert? How can this be?

How I long for some shedisa and linguisa. Apologies for my bludgeoning the family/Portuguese language but I was never taught how to spell it, just to speak it. Then again my grandmother said it's pronounced "pour-ti-gee" (Portuguese)

Online, I found and feel pretty positive the phonetically spelled "linguisa" is properly spelled "linguiça", but the only thing close in description to "shedisa" is "chouriço" which makes me scratch my head in perplexity.

Sliced and stewed all day in a seasoned tomato sauce until the house permeates with the flavor, and served over a simple pasta. My mouth waters in nostalgia.
:)/:(

For the uninformed, Linguiça is a smoke cured pork sausage seasoned with garlic and paprika (Thank you Wiki). "Shedisa" was described to me as being a "wine sausage" opposed to the other which was made of lamb, while one was made from pork (which one was which is forgotten in antiquity). Wiki describes both as pork sausages and describes chouriço as a wine/pork base, which makes me wonder if I got it right.
Even if my stomach could tolerate it, those ethnic cuisines are divergent enough to be impossible to find outside of Massachusetts and the exceedingly rare shop in New York.

I baked awesomely awesome bread today: oat baguettes. It's soft in the center with a crispy crust, it was a no-knead dough, but only took 2 hours to proof and the dough was super easy to handle. There really are no negatives to this bread.

The next time I have to bake bread for guests, this is what it's gonna be.

Chicken katsu with rice and a side of chicken pseudo-curry for the hubby.

Dessert is cream cheese brownies cause they sound appetizing when little else does. Joys of pregnancy nausea... ah well.

I busted up an oak pallet and made a small fire for the coals...grilled a steak and some jalepenos.

Last night I did the same but grilled some pineapple.

I took last night's pineapple and the jalepenos added them to some tomatillo salsa.
