What's cookin', good lookin'?

Can't really go wrong if you fry something in butter and boil it in cream, right?

True ^_^

Duck with lavender and orange is a very classic flavor profile.
One of the ways I experiment with herbs is to make a simple scrambled egg with it. Egg provides a really bland palette so that you can get a good taste without being elaborate.
One scrambled egg, don't forget your normal amounts of salt and pepper, and probably about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of dried herb, depending on how strong it is.
As soon as you scramble one egg and eat it, you begin to get goods ideas on how you can work with that herb.
And yeah. Focaccia... yum! :)
Lavender chicken salad sounds good as well.

That's an interesting idea with the scrambled egg. I'm probably going to experiment with it soon. I really want to try something baked for sure. Could be a sweet craving coming on, though. >.<

The ham & bean soup is officially cooking! I need to chop up a few carrots andthe actual ham for the soup, but everything else is simmering happily, and the house smells yummy.

If I have enough spoons (our metaphor for energy reserves, etc.) I think I'll make biscuits to go with the soup.

We cleaned out our freezer today, in fits and starts. (The freezer chirps when it gets nervous.) Some interesting 'ghosts' in there. It's much better organized now, and I hope it can stay that way for a while. I have this urge to put labels on the shelves so everyone knows what's supposed to live where.

debating what to do with this ground lamb. I have been craving moussaka but I have a weird relationship with that dish that is holding me back

Chicken broth. I don't often post here because I rarely prepare anything that's especially interesting. This is probably the least interesting meal ever, so I'm setting a really low bar for someone else. :D

Now hang on there...
I happen to love making my own broth, Mister.
You callin' mah cookin' boring?
:p

I'd have to do a taste test before making any judgment. Mine comes from a can so it's guaranteed to be average or below.

Oh my, how low can one go? Broth from a can!

Well, it might start low, but it's like a blank canvas for all sorts of goodies. Risotto, noodle soup, pot pie, dumplings...(good lord, everything is starch! Heh, proof I'm from good German lineage, I guess).

Today is all about simplicity, alas. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Leek and sweet potato soup today. All because desertslave mentioned soup.

I'll be making fresh rolls to go with it... But soft rolls rather than crusty ones.

Chamomile and ginger tea with tart Granny Smith apple slices.

I've had chamomile tea.
I've had ginger tea.
For some reason, I cannot imagine chamomile and ginger tea
I guess I think the ginger would overpower the delicate chamomile. Did you blend that yourself, or is it commercially available?

Ramen soup with pulled pork and roasted butternut squash topped with heaps of ginger and chili.

I first made it when I only had odd bits and bobs in the fridge, but the result was so good that it has become a favorite and I've made it many times since.

We had a salad made of feta cheese, black beans, chick peas, tomatoes, garlic and red onions, dressed with a vinaigrette.

My babygirl asked for my chicken enchilada casserole. She misses it!

Had to add this. Master knows I've been extra ouchy lately. If I stand for more than 5 minutes my right hip/leg goes to horrible prickles and then goes numb. :( So I perched at the island and he made himself my sous chef! Teamwork rules, again. :rose:

All of those sound so very tasty! I needed a few more ideas for the rest of the week. It's been so ungodly cold here that comfort foods are the rule, rather than the exception at this house right now.
Thanks y'all!
:D

At my table was a steaming bowl of beef stew with root veggies, crusty garlic rolls, and mixed green salad with balsamic/olive oil dressing. Yummo!
OH! And don't forget the wine - a nice pinot noir.

So perfect for this weather!!!

For a cold wintry evening, a lamb stew with new potatoes and veg.
Earl grey tea, no wine needed

I'm not tonight! Thanks to hubs... Excited to go out with friends for supper! (Is that a Canadian word?) lol

Supper of rosemary crackers with mature Cathedral City cheddar cheese and a hot chocolate.

Wondering if it's a mistake having cheese late in the evening
