What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

Great! [add to shopping list, beer].

There may be a few others that would be interested seela, would there be room at the table to accommodate them?

I can make it work, as long as you bring enough beer.

Yesterday: quick salmon stir fry thingy, it was good.
Today: Jerusalem artichoke and black chanterelle soup

I broke down and fried chicken tenders.

I'm so bad. This is the second time in a month that I have fried something.

Curry seems to be flavour of the week seela.

Tomato curry last night and tandoori chicken marinading for tonight in the fridge.

What did you have with them?
.

Broccoli cheese rice.

I held strong against the urge for mashed potatoes with creamed corn.

I'm saving that for when we splurge on chicken fried steak. You have to have mashed potatoes with creamed corn. It's an Okie thing and a solid comfort food. With our healthy eating lifestyle now, we use things like gravy or pancakes for celebrations or splurging.

My roots show in my cooking unless I keep a tight rein on things. I grew up in grandma's kitchen in Oklahoma where just about every dish had a corresponding sauce or gravy. It's really hard not to fix food that way to this day.

I think it's really cool that you have strong roots and clear influences in your style of cooking! I wish I did as well, but I don't, so I have to develop my own roots, traditions and styles.

Tonight's dinner is beetroot and black bean patties, egg, spinach and yogurt sauce.

Salad with peas, asparagus and prosciutto.
Homemade pasta with oven dried cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and truffle oil.
Zabaglione with berries for dessert.

I find it interesting Twister gracie has all of a sudden become quite demure. So unlike her.

Something with shrimp, veggies and noodles. I still have some green curry paste that I made a while back in the freezer, so I'll probably throw that in there as well. We shall see.
