Today,I stopped at McDonalds for my Bi-Weekly BigMac.....As I was eating my lunch I noticed a very irate man at the counter,It seems he was pissed at the slow service........As he berated the kid behind the counter everyone in the store just looked away..The kid was maybe 16..... Finally the man knocked a milkshake all over the counter, and all over the kid........There wasnt a manager around....Well I jumped up and asked him if he had a problem.....I was beyond pissed,I think he sensed that I was angry........He apoligized to the kid and quickly left the store. Now what I did was pretty much out of character for me. All I could think about was my own kids, and what if some moron treated them that way. I would hope that someone would do what I did. The kid thanked me,which was nice........The thing is I acted out of anger instead of reason.....as the day wore on and as Im writing this........Im glad I did........:)

what you did was admirable

:p

I would have done the same thing.
And like you, it would be out of character. :)

Good on you for sticking up for the kid
and doing the right thing.

:rose:

Hopefully, the very same thing. I don't think I could step aside and let something like that happen. That kid behind the counter was in no position to stick up for himself, and would've lost his job, so someone has to do it. You can't go around acting like a spoiled brat.

What a dick!

If anyone sees something happen that confronts their sense of right and wrong, it is their duty and right to confront it. You don't have to second guess it, it is right to you and that's all that matters! Good going!:D

I have to say that I too would have done that same thing. And have done the same thing more than a few times.
I have worked in retail for a few years and have dealt with more than my share of total and absolute ASSHOLES.
It really makes me angry when I see these fucking little twats throw their tantrums.

I've been that kid. And I've been the manager too, I would have steped in more forcefull, and sooner. I'd have gone into manager mode and resolved the situation, don't care if it's not my restuarant. You sort of get programmed. Then I would have pulled the manager aside and had some quiet stern words about awareness of cusotmers and such, the kid should never have been put in that sotuation, they don't get paid enough for that.

LOOK AT MY AV............ YOU TELL ME

What you did was controlled......................

I, as a parent of teens that have been behind that counter at MickyD's.............. I would have dragged his sorry ass outside and smacked him a time or two................

I admire your self control

You definitely did the right thing. I'm glad that you didn't ignore it. What the other guy did was wrong. People make mistakes.

*Kiwiwolf gives bored1 a standing ovation*

More power to you bored1... I applaud your actions. I am damned sure I would have done exactly the same thing in the same situation. You acted out of anger instead of out of reason... yeah big deal... at least you acted which makes you twice the man in my book. Good on you...

Did Good

You did the right thing to help out, I think that is what is wrong today most people look the other way. The next time it happens it could be your kid there and you would want help for them. GOOD JOB HELPING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I apologize. You've been around long enough I should know if you are male or female. Not that that matters or should matter, but it's fortunate this didn't get physical. Hell, male or female this guy is lucky you didn't just slap the shit out of him to get his attention. Whether you realized it at the time or not, you excercised good judgement, and took the high road, by just verbally letting him know what an asshole he was.

Thank you. Thank you very much. We need more of this in our society. Big ol' hairy Kudos.

(If I had done it the sumbitch would have pulled a nine and killed my ass. Remember Stand By Me?)

I got up this morning thinking about my post of last night....I wasnt sure how it would be recieved.............Thank You all...You have made my morning:) ...

Uh yeah, but

that's one of those situations where the odds are, if you play that hand continually, eventually you will be subjected to battery...

People in the service industry get paid to put up with customer abuse. Teens need to learn that not everyone in life thinks that they are the pinnacle of societal evolution. They get enough of that in school now-a-days.

WHAT THE FUCK?

"people in the service industry get paid to put up with customer abuse"

FUCK YOU SINthysist.

They don't get paid THAT much.

Have you ever been employed in the service sector?
Or are you one of those bastard cunts who whines about every little fucking thing they don't like?
get it right motherfucker I'm here to help in anyone I can,but I'm not here to hold your hand and wipe your ass and think for you.

I will agree with you, however, that teenagers do need to learn that they are not the "pinnacle of societal evolution" as you put it.

thank you

what you did took great strength..... i work at a large retail store (at the service desk) and have had to deal with these irrate people myself.... and sometimes its feels great to have someone stick up for you once in a while.... you probably helped that kid feel better about himself, knowing some cared if he was getting berated by an asshole...... i highly commend you:D

I hope that I would have risen to the occasion as you did. There have been times when I did act as you did, and others when I sat by and let the SOB get away with it. There is never any excuse for bad manners.

I can't say I would have said anything. Yes, i have been on the other side of the fence getting pissed on by a customer then getting pissed on by my manager for not taking it like a good little boy.

I was concerned when bored1 stepped up to the customer. You never know what people will do. It could have gotten really bad really fast and I'm glad it didn't. Just know that if you do that to some people they won't hesitate in the slightest to harm or kill you over nothing.

AJ, you try that in my store, when I am arround and you will be polietly escorted to your car. There is some bussiness that we don't need. If there is a problem with one of our teenagers, by all means we want to know about it, and we will address the issue, privitely. Try dressing one down in public, and you will be told to take your bussiness down the street.

Samuari you are some gentleman

:p

I think bored1 should have gotten a manager, but I admire him for stepping up. I have worked in all levels of the food service industry & NO ONE who works or ever worked for me takes abuse. I work for a department store noe & I guess I would be considered middle management. Our store executives are the first level, then myself and 3 others are the next, then the department leads. I do not tolerate any kind of abuse in my store & I have had people escorted out of the building. Slow service happens & if someone has a problem, they need to ask to speak to a manager. One thing I have learned is that for most people, the louder they are yelling, the more incorrect they are. The most fun I ever had was when 3 men were verbally abusing a young woman who had simply explained store policy. They were not from the US & obviously had no respect for the young woman. I told them the policy and then escorted them from the store myself. They were speaking in a foreign language and by their tone, it wasn't very complimentary to me. Too bad for them, I don't tolerate rudeness in anyone.
