What would a lack of free press look like?

Disclaimer....I could be totally wrong about how it would play out.

Under Trump(or any other like minded President), a consolidation to one news Network would probably be the route under which you would have total state control of messaging. I actually think it would be kinda like 1984 (movie or book) and include Twitter and other online sources, but all under control of Trump and his minions.

He would probably take Fox news, and those at Fox would quickly realized they were not in control of their own news Network anymore. This is the thing about state control of media and the "little people", some of them on this site, who think it would be a good thing. They somehow think that " their team" would be in charge now. It's usually at that moment that many of them figure out it was never their team to begin with. All other sources of media would eventually be driven under ground and penalties would be imposed on the descemination and reception of non-state approved information including jail time. Trump has already described this in detail.

People who resist this new state control, some of them, would disappear. This is eventually what happens as it does in China and Russia. One of my favorite examples of this is Russian News reporting doctors falling to their deaths out of Russian hospital windows. These same doctors were calling for aid and reporting to the world at Large of the severity of Covid outbreaks in their hospital and City. Rich!!!...falling out of windows! This is also an example of the Russian sense of humor.

It's true that, without the free press, not nearly as much of the Trump corruption and criminality would be available to the public--to be ignored by his supporters.

Since corporate media replaced the free press, what's left is mostly blogs, podcasts, and other small scale media, without the resources to investigate and hire experts.
