I'd like to start a thread to remind us of the little things that we have as Americans - the things we enjoy. I want to give us all a chance to give thanks for the small blessings in our lives ... just list - explain if you like. I'll begin:

I'm thankful I live somewhere where I can choose any profession I want. I'm thankful that those who have chosen to rescue and treat those in tragic events such as those of 9/11/2001.

Im thankful that even after all of the military cutbacks we still have the best damn fighting force in the world.....cant wait til we can use it..

one more thing ...

I'm thankful that we have a national anthem that conveys such strength, and provokes such emotion. If you think about the words, it parallels what is happening. Tragety - but we'll still be together at the dawn.

I am proud of my fellow New Yorkers

Terrorists tried to throw our city into chaos. But people held strong. We pulled together. Thousands of people went to hospitals to donate blood. The lines were 3 hours long in some places, and people waited. Most hospitals are refusing more donors today because they have no place to store all the donations. People donated clothes, money, services. Handed out water, wet towels. There were no riots. There was no looting. Just 8,000,000 people pulling together to help each other in the face of this act of cowardace.

Blood

I live in a small town of 25,000, and I had to wait 2 hours to give blood today. And what I've seen/heard of New Yorkers response is absolutely amazing -

God bless America!

I am thankful to be an American because I have
the freedom to vote, to work in any profession I
choose, to EXPRESS MYSELF FREELY (1st Amendment
all the way!!), and to have freedoms that some
other countries may not have.

Yes, with the military cutbacks that have happened
over the past few years, I know for a fact that our
country still has the most powerful armed forces in
the world. I am for peace, not war, but if need be,
then I am for our armed forces fighting the enemy.
Just because terrorism has rocked our country does
not mean I have to stop living my life---->it makes
me to feel stronger and to appreciate the little
things that life has to offer.

My heart goes out to those who have been lost,
and those who are working around the clock
to help!

God Bless America!

As terrible as yesterday was (and the aftermath will be), I'm thankful that it wasn't any worse. Whoever did this was very organized and had planned for a long time. It would have been very easy for them to have hit many more targets.

I, too, am extremely proud of how people have responded to this tragedy. When I saw television pictures of the New Yorkers lined up to give blood, I was stunned. Not that I wouldn't expect it, but that they responded so quickly when there was so much to fear right in their own back yard.

Also, yesterday afternoon while I was driving home from work, I passed a Wendy's restaurant with the flag flying at half-mast. What struck me was the fact that I had seen dozens of other flags flying on other businesses, but none had been lowered. I don't know if it was the action of the individual store manager or a company directive, but it sure was a moving sight.

I'm awed by the response....

that has come from all over the world! It is not only an American tragedy, it is a human tragedy. The tears were for yesterday, the work began today! The way everyone has rolled up their sleeves and pitched in to help is amazing.

The fanatics tried to break the fabric that makes America great, but have only succeeded in making it stronger!

God bless!

NO WAY SLEEPING WARRIOR- We don't have the best. WE HAVE THE GREATEST & STRONGEST military force in the world.

In addition, we have the right to say what we want, when we want, and as often as we want just as long as it doesn't hurt another individual or group.

And most of all, we have the greatest law enforcement and Intelligence agencies in the world. I predicted that the FBI and law enforcement agencies were going to find the culprit to this disaster within a week and damn if they didn't.

I’m thankful that whenever tested – this country shines bright like no other… we consistently unify.

You can’t kick an American. They don’t stay down. (When will they ever learn?)

I am Proud to Call myself an american.

Proud to go to the aid of any Country on earth without thought of Reward.

Proud to know that one Day I will Enlist in the Armed Services, and my sons and daughters will hopefully do the same.

Proud to know I can make my voice heard..That I can stand up and fight for the Rights my Forefathers gave their lives for.

Proud to Salute Old Glory every Morning at sunrise, and To Hear the national Anthem played on the old time radio stations at night.

I am proud to live in a country which has, time and again, triumphed over all odds, over all adversity, To emerge better and Stronger than before.

Proud to Live in a nation that tirelessly Devotes itself to the Cause Of Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happyness.

Proud to know that No matter what, mYy rights are secured by the Supreme Law of the Land, The Constitution.

I am proud to know that men and women of all ages can aspire to any heights here, No matter their Race, Creed, or Religion.

I am proud to Know that one day my Children, and my Grand Children, and So Forth, will also be Americans.

But above all, I am proud knowing that Our country, After 200 Plus years, Is the Strongest in the Entire World, That while every Great Empire, and every Grand Regime has faltered, and failed, We, The American People, Remain.

We are the Fortress, the Shining Bastion of freedom in a world littered with depression, Opression and Dictators of the worst kind. And we will, time and again, Place our Lives, our Pride, and our freedom on the line To maintain the Global Peace we have fought so hard to attain.

Some say there will always be people like Osama bin Laden. Which is why there will always be a United States Of America, to hunt them down, and stop their Reigns of Terror.

God Bless you all. And God Bless america.

Celestial & Roland - Thanks

Those two posts were absolutely stunning!

Celestial - believe me - I've sent that one to many many friends - including a few that are now mobilized in the Navy. I've also printed it to be posted in my home - very moving, thank you for passing it on!

~Bless Us All!~
