I'm searching for ideas so what was your biggest suprise or the best thing you have recieved on this created commercial thing they call a holiday

I've never had a good Valentine's day. Usually I'm single then. But even when I've been with someone its ended up being a horrible day.

*bump*

Seems like a good question, even if I have no answer. I'm with Beethoven'sFire, I've never had a good Valentine's Day. Maybe as a kid...but none stand out in my memory.

A few years ago, I was dating a guy who bought me a Bearded Dragon. I already had a male, so he bought me what he thought was a female. I know it sounds like an odd present, but it was actually very thoughtful of him, as i had mentioned once that I thought it would be nice for the male to have a companion. Unfortunately, the pet store people gave him a male, and Louie (the one I already had) tried to kill the other one while I was away. Nevertheless, it was the coolest Valentine's Day gift I have ever gotten.

Biggest suprise was my sweetheart at the time saying she was leaving.

What is it? Some kind of a sea horse? It does sound like a thoughtful present

Well, this definitely does not go under the subject of "best," but it was definitely surprising--in a kind of bad way. Last year for valentine's day my girlfriend bought me a video game that she wanted. Surprising, isn't it? I even went the romantic route and got her chocolates and a necklace. *sigh*

The best I have had has been e-cards I've had the last 3 years from a friend on the other side of the world.... why.... because he is a true friend and our frendship is made of love and respect from each other :rose:  :rose:

Back in Elementry school when all the kids would get all the other kids Valantine's Day cards.

I have never had a girlfriend on valantine's day, its a curse.

His love and a tattoo of whatever I wanted. I now have an eagle's head above my right breast. Very realistic and beautiful to me.

:)

Thanks lilminx.

My beloved was a Valentine's Day conception. Nothing will ever top that.

I've never gotten anything on valintien's day.

well chocolates from my parents (my family celebrates valintins day very strange)

other then that Nodda.

OK, I'm sensing a bit of negativity on this thread. I'm very astute about such things, so I doubt many others have picked up on it, though. :p

I've had several cool Valentine's Days, all with the same guy. For our first Valentine's, he went all out and did the traditional thing - box of Godiva, roses, and diamond earrings (because they're my birth stone and I didn't own any). I had had a string of horrid V Days, and he said he wanted me to get the full, lavish treatment. I still wear the earrings every day.

The next year, starving college status in full effect, he wrote me a letter explaining what I meant to him, and placed it in a big bowl of fruit. I love fruit, and he had carefully selected all my favorite kinds.

Common theme - I know he was thinking about me when he selected the gifts, and that is what made them so special. Your present can be lavishly expensive, or as simple as a poem, as long as you know it will touch her heart.

i have always been into valentine's day in my own special way. it's a day of love, and i take the opportunity to show it. i'm usually single. i'm usually broke. i still like to celebrate the love i have in my life.

i usually make stuff for people. hand made valentines that are silly. edible valentines (heart shaped cookie cutters and colorful icing are a must). mixed tapes. collages. draw a picture (this is made even better by the fact that i am a terrible artist ;) ) write a poem, or give the person a copy of one of my favorite poems.

there are all sorts of things you can do. for me valentine's day has never been about romance per say, just about love.

guess Im a romantic

I enjoy Valentine's day. It gives me a chance to send wonderful ecards to friends (some who live on the other side of the world). And to get cards by snail mail or email.

I guess the best thing I ever had was a weekend with my beloved (technically it was the 11th of Feb), but we called it our Valentine's meeting. Our only weekend together, but I'll cherish it until the day I die.

That was my bestest present.

I have never had a romantic Valentine's. I have the single on Valentines Day curse too....But i do stuff with friends or family, getting sick on candy with them helps. :)

My best & worst Valentine's Day was in 1999. My son and my boyfriend got together on my gifts. I got flowers, candy, dolls, all the silly stuff I love. What made it special was that my 2 favorite guys had finally become very good friends. What made it the worst is that it was the last Valentine's Day we had together.
