Essentially, woke was a vernacular used as far back in the 1970s by black Americans, during the volatile post-Civil Rights era. It means to be aware of your surroundings. If a policeman stopped you, do not argue back, put your hands on the wheel and follow instructions because there would be cops itching to kill a 'negro' without repercussions claiming to be "in fear of his life". Black people have to be hyper aware in this bigot-filled country, facing continuous micro-aggressions.

The term has become a boogeyman of the right who are afraid of their own shadows. Furthermore, the same "conservatives" who were bitching about "cancel culture" are now showing their ultimate hypocrisy boycotting companies for GASP, celebrating inclusion and diversity, as if that is an affront to their very existence. How tragic. Good luck to them, they are running out of places to hate.

I just scan through any use of the word "woke." It's a silly word and I think anyone applying it to anything is just being silly. So, no need for me to put a definition to it and to give a shit what it's supposed to mean.

If DeSantis was open and honest about his opposition to affordable healthcare, reproductive care, women's rights, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, civil rights, voting rights, etc. he would NEVER have a chance as a political candidate! So, her uses vague, misleading language and hope that the voters are unable to deduce his true agenda.

My issue is that it’s working. It’s constantly working. Whether it’s “You’re with us or against us” or “MAGA” or “SJW” - the masses never question what’s the meaning and certainly not its implications.
