What the hell is up with the Sanctions on Russia?

I fail to see the sanctions' logic. (or maybe I've become fed up with reading Lit lately):
--1.So Americans think that, through starving an entire population, that entire population will assault Kremlin while chanting "Thank you America for helping us see the light"???????????
--2. The other explanation is that the only way out is to weaken Russia.
Well yeah, but by the time that happens, Ukraine might well have turned into dust, with millions dead.

All I see is that the sanctions are magnifying the effects of Putin's war, and running more havoc throughout 2nd and 3rd world countries.

sO My only way to make sense of them, is to delve into Conspiracy theories.
--Are Americans (as in the Establishment, not the Biden versus Trump binary approach) trying to cover up for some botched economical measures back home?
Is their real goal to hurt China India etc through these sanctions, which will strengthen America's dominance?

I only know, from browsing French and Eastern European - based Youtube (sorry) channels,
that Eastern European and other 2nd world countries that followed what America said (stop imports from Russia etc)
can barely afford electricity and other energy-dependent costs, food included.

And that it's starting to feel like a slap in the face for them, because only poor countries followed what America decreed.
Germany is still importing Russian gas.
And India is happy, cause they're now getting Russian gas at discounted prices.

No, logic does not dictate the opposite. However if they want to keep going that's on them. We have a saying in the military. "Floggings will continue until morale improves." Sooner or later they'll get smart or dead. Either suits me.

Apparently many dissidents who were let be would suddenly develop rampant blood cancer and die within months.
In hindsight, many of them recalled how they were forced to drink coffee when interrogated, and left to wait for hours on end in strangely lit rooms with no ventilation.
I mean Americans tried to poison Castro by making his mistress use some poisonous lipstick....

Mexico has about tapped out it's petroleum reserves. As a matter of fact they are now dependent on Texas for their natural gas.

Venezuela is a whole different ball game. They are sitting on the worlds largest untapped petroleum reserves, allegedly anyway. The problem is that first Chavez, followed by Maduro, have placed incompetent but reliable jackasses in charge of their petroleum industry. And they in turn have hired incompetent but reliable followers. The entire infrastructure is in such a state of disrepair that it will take billions to get it running again. But that can't happen as long as the incompetent managers and workers remain in place and getting rid of them would be counter-socialistic.

Do so. Zeihan predicted that Russia would invade the Ukraine in 2022. He made that prediction in 2014. Virtually all of his analysis is based on demographics and geography and you know how I'm focused on demographics. I started keeping an eye on him in 2016 or so. I don't deny that the KGB have means to make people disapear. There has to be a limit of you've pissed off too many people though. You have never seen the logic of sanctions and that hasn't changed.

Sanctions are to apply political pressure on those in leadership positions. People favor that approach because other approaches kill lots of people much faster than sanctions
