So my question is, what the hell do I do now? We've been freinds for years, its prety unlikely he's decided to move on. Has he just lost interest? There is always the possibility that he is just busy, but you would have a better barometer on that than I. His terse response might indicate that he is upset about something. Is it possible that he wants your relationship to be something more permanent and serious?

I don't think you should contact him again. Let him come to you. I think some of the biggest mistakes made are when your mind starts playing tricks on you and you start second guessing things. It could be something rather simple or it could be something more then that.

Either way you both know the limitations and boundaries to what you two have going. You made a moe and he pushed it aside for one reason or another. Now allow him to make the next move. If you make another move or continue to do so then it gives me the ability to drag things along at his own pace.

Now it is his turn to make the next step. Once he does you can go from there and at some point ask him what that last exchange was all about.

Those that come off as insensitive are often the exact opposite, but hide it behind a mask. Not that this may be applicable in this instance. It's just an observation, in general.

It could be he's having some conflicting feelings he hasn't sorted through yet.

Let him know that you'd like to talk whenever he's ready and until you hear from him you'll give him all the space he wants/needs.
