Here is a sampling of what the critics are saying about my first submission to literotica, "Vendetta's Diary":

"Brilliant. I enjoyed reading it." - Chilled Vodka

"This is the worst story Ive ever read. You should have your head examined." - anonomous critic

Just a regular day in the neighbourhood.......

Hmm

I see the same Mr / Mrs / Ms perfect wrote to you then, mine told me to go back to school, funny how this highly intelligent and articulate critic can't string more than two lines of text together aint it.

Feel warm and bask in the praise, totally ignore anyone who hasn't got the guts or common sense to write to you in person but chooses anon as their cover.

pops...................:D

Some people confuse a superb fiction with the reality. That annonimous critic probably believe Sharlock Holmes really lived on 221B Baker Street.

It's rear entry, Watson.

I'm personally most interested in feedback that tells me something on why someone liked or disliked my work. You're bound to get downright negative feedback once in a while. I once got the anonymous "you're a real pervert". I decided to take it as a compliment :)

To date, knock on wood, I've only gotten 2 negative feedbacks. I've saved them both and before I start writing a new story I always read them.
My negatives were telling me that I had no talent and would never be a published writer. I know there are many better writers here at Lit and in the same breath I know that I do have talent to some extent also.
So, when I post that new story and watch as my ratings near 4.5 I think back on Mr./Ms. you have no talent and laugh.

My positive feedback is usually anonymous. I guess that's a bad sign. Not willing to fess up to actually liking my mindless dibble.

Sounds about par for course, I would say. ;)

I've actually received 2 feedbacks from writers who truly took the time to write out exactly the ways in which they felt I could improve on my writing. Both were very sincere, and their feedback was greatly appreciated. I've kept them both, and refe to them often. (Not sure if I live up to their advice yet, but...)

And I actually did receive one negative feedback from a reader willing to leave an actual email addy. I was actually thrilled - and initiated an exchange with this person to find out exactly what was on their mind. I think this person was a bit taken away, but was just as appreciative as I was. I just wish more people, when writing out negative feedback, would give me the opportunity to write back. They are the ones I want to talk to, to find out exactly where/what they feel could have been better or what bothered them.

Anyway, I seemed to have drifted once again, sorry!

On Dangerous Territory

My latest story, which went up on literotica yesterday, is set at Ground Zero on September 11th, and I feel like I've walked into a buzz saw. Many, many comments expressing outrage about a story set in that time and place, even though it has a minimal of erotic content.

So be warned, if the memories of September 11th are still to painful to relive, don't go there. The story is entitled "Dressed for Disaster" - click here to read it.

I agree with Wicked, I keep my negatives to help turn them into positives.

I've had several emails with feedback on my stories and take the good with the bad. The are a few authors that have published many stories here at Lit and they have been very helpful and encouraging.

If an author asks for feedback, be it positive or negative, they shouldn't let it discourage their efforts but use it to help improve upon.

As with most negative feedback, I too find it comes anonymously. To this I say, if you're going to take the time to comment, at least be considerate enough for us to respond or find out what you do like.

Yes the old negative anon, two lines at the most, hardly a sentence strung together, stock items I think.
I believe Mr/Mrs/Ms perfect has a stock of one liner's on file and pastes the appropriate one into the feedback box, probably written when mummy isn't looking, well the content of most can't come from an adult surely.

pops..............

I love the negative feedback, especially the one sentence insults! They rock! I keep it all and laugh my arse off!
I wrote my last story in an attempt to achieve negative feedback, and I'm happy to say succeeded. See quote below. LOL

Although My tenure here is only five months or so long I have fourty or fourty-stories posted to date. Let Me tell you that once you hit that mark you have hopefully a good amount of repeat readers who love what you do. They are always positive or by now point out little things you forgot or screwed up on in a positive way.

Secondly you have by now come to the point where you have certain readers who actually loathe anything you write. LOL I don't mind that and I have put the scoring issues to the side. Either you love or you hate My writings. Either way I couldn't give a flying .... well you get the idea. I write for Myself. It frees the mind to explore fantasies of things you would love to have or memories of things you have experienced already. Or at other times a wild lucid idea will pop into your head and seem like the perfect story.

Yes, I am long winded lol. So bear with Me. The feedbacks will never change, although I do get less hateful ones now. I still like the occasional "you sick fuck." ones though. They brighten My day. Every so often a negative one will be brave enough to send a forwarding correct email address and I will try and contact them if they didn't describe why I suck.

In the end it's all phoey, people will still read and send feedback and wank to your most insightful sex scenes so enjoy the positive and FUCK THE REST. LOL

Thanks for listening MV.
