What should you throw away?

Ain't it the truth. I was raised by people who lived on an island that got a ship to it with mail and supplies once a month (and less in during winter). You never know what you or your neighbor will need tomorrow. I remember taking a snowmachine to the dump once, but it was just parts, stripped of every nut, bolt and screw I could get off it. Nothing useful went to the dump.
Yet, when I was commercial fishing and we needed this or that, the cannery dump was the first place we looked.

i am about to cull as much as i can. old papers and worn out clothes will be the first to go. then random kitchen shit. if the water bottle doesn’t have the lid anymore, it’s gone.

My CDs.

I have a few in the fussy CD changer in my E36, and a couple in my glove box on the E90, but I can't bring myself to offload them. No one wants them anyway.

When we moved to Tennessee I emptied my pole barn of two 30 yard dumpsters of stuff I thought I couldn't live without. I had a driveway sale and probably sold another 30 yard dumpster's worth of stuff And I gave away several pick up truck and trailer loads of other stuff.

We are contemplating another move so another culling will occur before we move again.

Stuff that's growing a new ecosystem in the corner of your fridge.

Clothes that are too big on me now that are over ten years old. I have to stop convincing myself that I might need them one day.

I just gave several bags of clothes to a thrift store for that very reason. 60 lb weight loss and I held onto clothes in case I gained it back.

Congratulations on the weight loss and keeping it off! Since 2020 I've lost 70 lb and am finally okay with parting with a few things. It's a weird mental hang up.

I’ve ended up moving every few years, and I find that makes me incredibly choosy about what I decide to keep. If I don’t use it, it’s gone.

I've lost 80 pounds since I retired and all along the way I disposed of clothes too big for me because I was sure I was never going to be that heavy again. The only exception has been t-shirts because everyone needs t-shirts for the dirty jobs around the house and why wreck a new one when these old ones will do.

Well my wife is telling me this will be our last move. I call Bull Shit because moving here was supposed to be our last move. I love my wife and that is the only reason I am agreeing to this move. I will thin the herd again because to be honest there is boxes and tubs we haven't even unpacked yet after 3 years here. So why lug it around?

I always hope that every move is the last move, but life is tricky and full of surprises.

I am 65 years old and I just don't want to move anymore. I'm tired of starting over. We have good friends here, a beautiful home with 6 very natural acres. But again, I love my wife and we have made a few deals about the new place so I am sure it will be okay in the end.

I'm very sentimental. And my wardrobe you'd think 5 women lived here with the sizes...oh I'll slim back into that.

Like fuck I will. 🤣
The same. I have clothing for every occasion, in different sizes.
Part of me just wants to ditch it all and start new. 🤣
I also saved greeting cards. I finally tossed them. I saved a few special ones. And ones from my Mom.

When we combined kitchens I gave my pans to charity, apart from the LeCreuset saucepan 💙 then I purged my underwear drawers of items I only ever kept to stop them looking empty.👙🧦

Batteries, TV's, old phones, oil from my truck, tires, old computers, bleach, 1/2 cans of paint...all in the trash bro.

Stew
All of the needs to go to your county recycling. Usually free drop off. Don't put any of that stuff in the garbage.

Freecycle or free listing on FB Marketplace. Put the goods on the curb and let anyone scrounge through it.

Lots of old Christmas and birthday cards. Ticket stubs from concerts. Thousands of books. My old school exercise books! Tons of photos. Christmas decs I've not put up for 15 years.

I have a huge bag of mum's stuff I brought back from the care home. I will cull that for sure but I can't face doing it yet for some reason.

Old cat collars and toys from cats long gone. Concert programs. My school reports. Old make up and nail varnish I do need to cull.

Everything is tidied away though in boxes or cases.
So stuff your biographer will appreciate!

Two closets full of clothes my wife can't wear and hasn't worn in 15 to 20 years. All the stuff I've saved in bins that might come in handy.

You guys!

I went to check on my ginger bug and it’s fizzing after one day. This makes me very happy because I like ginger beer and the possibility of it actually working is super exciting for me. Anyway, after a second I’m like oh damn I need bottles. So I’m thinking order some. That’s when I remembered that a few years ago I bought a whole bunch of cheap coloured bottles with the flip top lids. For what, I don’t remember lol. Then I thought, oh crap I never used them did I throw them out?

I go in the garage and they were still there! Yay!

I’ll wash them and put them through the dishwasher and they’ll be good as new.
