I have Thursday and Friday off this week and decided to go on a little impromptu trip to one of my favorite near-by(ish) small towns. It’s so relaxing here! I’ve done all the things I always do, plus I’ve been to one new museum which was really cute and interesting. This is maybe my best summer tradition.

Vacation starts next week, this is a good practice run for it.

Sounds like a good first day!

I used to teach as well before changing careers into whatever this dumpster fire is that I’m involved with these days. Sometimes I miss teaching, but a lot of the time I really don’t. At least the dumpster fire keeps me warm in the winter, or something.

The class was so good! I was worried, because it was in the morning and it’s been ages, but yay, it went much better than I expected.

Now I want to do other languages too!

It was Slovak, the first class I’ve taken in a really, really, really long time. I went to Slovakia in May and while I got along just fine, it was clear that I need practice. So I booked a class now, on a whim, but it was a very good decision.

I was able to discuss a little more challenging topics than what comes up while traveling. The teacher was very good about pointing out certain recurring mistakes and helping me find ways to word things in a bit more elevated style.

So yeah, I’m going back for more!
