Why do people go to nightclubs? What is the purpose of a nightclub?

I've never been to one, and I don't want to. I hate alcohol, dancing, and loud music.

The purpose is alcohol, dancing and loud music.

The purpose is to make money for the owners by charging high admission fees, and/or selling excessive amounts of alcohol at inflated prices. To get punters to pay up the incentives are dancing, music and hope of sexual encounters.

And if you really want to make money, you put in poles and a stage...

;) ;)

Locally, if a business starts offering pole-dancing, that's the last desperate step before the creditors move in and close the business down.

If it is pole-dancing classes? The taxman is at the door demanding back taxes for years.

No, that's the dance or Karate studio... ;) ;)

I do not know how it is over there, but here, you go to the outskirts of town, put up a huge pole barn right off the Interstate, start hiring girls from the local college and then begin making money hand over fist.

You put some of that into a huge legal fund, hire the local John Edwards and then laugh in glee as the adjacent town fathers fume and plot to annex your land so they can legislate you out of business, at which point, you go to the outskirts of town...,

;) ;) :D

I think of night clubs as experimental breeding farms for the stupid.

Basically true, but I do not distinguish between the stupid by sexuality.

I do.

Gay bars pay the bouncer better wages and the tips are out of this world; you just stand there and guys hand you little packets of coke with their phone numbers on them...

Now the Lesbians, they were horrid tippers...

Just awful; good pay though!

In truth, I wouldn't know. I haven't been in a night club since 1994; if I want to dance, I go to the hunt ball where I get to be the 'scandal of the year'. I don't drink and I tip 20% at restaurants unless the server or food sucks then I tip 15%.

Pretty much the same but if the food sucks, I tip the server for the service anyway, however, if the server sucks, I leave two pennies...

;) ;) ... just so they know it is a purposeful act.

i don't tip people, fuck that. i work for mines! lol

damn, since 94'!?? yiiiiikes

Yeah, I'm old now.

If you don't drink and don't care for slobbering men attempting to impress you with their ritual breeding dances, the night club lifestyle becomes rather pointless rather early in life.

Oh a rude server gets $0.00. I don't make statements by giving them the $0.01, I make statements to them.

Even my little tiny town has 14 restaurants. You only get one bad meal before we say, "not that one". The best of them has a "no complaints" policy for their servers - do it well, do it friendly or do it somewhere else - so there's never been a need there for a bad tip - the owner takes care of problems and fast.
