A man who knows when to be serious and when to be silly.

Someone who I can lean on when I want to.. who will offer me support without telling me how he thinks I should fix the problem. Who can look at me with a wicked grin and devilment in his eyes and make me forget why I was upset with him in the first place.

A man who can teach me what he's learned in his lifetime and who is also willing to learn what I have in mine. Compassion, kindness, strength of mind and character who's actions speak more than words.

I wondered what I had posted originally in this thread, if maybe in the past few months I had changed my mind any at all.

Not surprisingly I haven't.


But I will add to it.. affection. Someone who isn't afraid to grab my hand and hold it. Who can lean over and place a gentle kiss upon my face. Not because he's needy or clingy.. but because he just desires to.

The man who unlocks my heart will be someone who I feel that I can confide all of my fears to and not worry that he'll pass judgement on me. Who, in turn, can open up to me and allow me full access into the inner recesses of his heart and soul.

I thought once that my heart could never be unlocked. That was a foolish thing for me to believe. No heart can ever be locked to the point where someone could not unlock it.

I do believe though, that it will be a difficult thing for anyone to do. If they really wanted to get that close to me - to wend their way into the inner sanctum of my heart - they'd need to have both incredible patience and a very great interest in doing so. No one I've yet met has had either.

I prefer to think not that my heart can't be unlocked, but that it won't. But that's okay, it doesn't have to be. My whole heart ins't neccesary for me to be truly caring or affectionate or interested or comfortable or passionate.

The key to unlocking my heart is simple ----- acceptance. When i feel truly accepted for the person i am, then i begin to open my heart.

Unlocking my heart is only the beginning, though. Noone has yet managed to unlock the chains around my soul. At this point, i don't really think anyone ever will.
