When I was in the navy I lied and told everyone I was in supply. I still do that. I also lied about my location and my marital status, because being married at that post put me in housing whereas being affianced put me in the barracks, some 20 miles away.

My best friend's roomie has recently taken up internet lying much to her detriment. She does the classifieds thing at yahoo and tells the guys she weighs 135 pounds. Which is a good 200 pounds less than she actually weighs. She then freaks out when they want to meet her.

I don't lie either. I agree what is the point? Sure you probably aren't going to meet most of the people you interact with online, but if you ever DO then you're gonna get caught and end up looking like a fool. Plus once you start to weave a web of lies, it just keeps growing and growing....
