What is something from your youth

A few

Test patterns on TV Before 7am and after 12:30am.
Signs on stores that said "Come in it's cool inside"
Penny candy
2 cents for returnable coke bottles.

Oh good lord. Punch cards. That's when dinosaurs where chasing us around.

I was using a hand punch to patch programs on an IBM 1401...

That was simple compared to being the supervisor of 25 women aged from 15 to 25. They taught me a lot. :D

In retrospect all of them were very good to me. I was their boss but only 19 years old. Generally they looked after me by telling me when I got things wrong, and what to do to correct my errors. I made my life much easier by listening to their advice and considering it even if I didn't take their advice every time. They were not averse to trying to wind me up...

Let me guess. You were their boss only because of a general assumption that women in the workplace need a man in charge. That's something from our youth, all right.

Parking

Parking with your girlfriend... and eight tracks that jammed in the eight track player... leading to parking with your girlfriend!

Fuck you. You are a sniveling, pathetic, cowardly piece of shit.

(Oh— and, by the way, since you're obviously too stupid to understand it— you are advocating murder)

Bless you princess. Confession frees the soul. 😘

hip pocket record players.

I never saw one of them?

I remember when Walkman Radios came out

Wrong. I was their boss because I had passed a post graduate exam, followed by a three day residential interview, and a year's training...

All of the women had passed an entrance examination and some had taken another examination to be promoted. The promoted ones had the equivalent of passing an age 16 school leaving examination. Many of them went on to reach my grade level by their 30s.

Dark skies.

Being able to see the Milky Way, or even more than a few stars, without driving a considerable distance and still having sky glow from an urban center on the horizon.

Do you remember when the sky was dark, and the stars were bright?

The total mindblow of unexpectedly discovering a weathered girlie magazine somewhere in the neighborhood.

I experienced the same, but the biggest find was a box full of dozens of hard core porn girlie magazines, AND a few gay porn magazines, in a cave on the limestone bluffs near my parent's house. It changed my life forever (though I may have already been "changed".)

We left them there with the "plan" to come back the next day, with a backpack, to sneak them somewhere closer to home. I snuck out of my house late that night, descended the rickety wooden ladder into the vertical shaft by flashlight, and took the cream of the crop including all of the gay mags. I was as "shocked" as the others when we returned the next day to find that much of the stash was missing.

The sky still grows dark here, fall thru spring, still untouched from urban crowding.

Staying up trying to catch your favorite jam on the radio so you can hit record on the cassette deck.

Pants with fly-buttons instead of zippers (before even my time, but I've read such things existed as late as the 50s).

I used to enjoy listening to the King Biscuit Flower Hour on the radio.

It's not dark when I wake up or go to sleep, now. Urban crowding has nothing to do with it.

I've been hitting the hay at midnight but I see light peeking in about 5:30 am now. Damn curtains have a cat sized hole in them that I need to attend to.

I have a pair, still.

Did anyone have one of those calculator watches ? I think they were a fad for about a year or two?
