For the last couple of months I have had no desire, what-so-ever, to write. Not a story, not a poem, not even two words that rhyme. Then, as if someone flipped a switch, it seems I have been inspired. Now, when I least expect it, these silly lil ditties have been popping into my head. Or worse, words of amore, rainbows, and butterflies, keep trying to pour themselves onto paper.

So I ask you... is there any certain thing, person, or events that inspire you to write? Anything that triggers your imagination and creative expression???

As for me, it's not something I can force. It just happens when it freakin wants to!!

I have the same problem SK. Though I'm barely a writer, and even then, only because I've written a few stories. I simply am NOT a born writer.

I can't force myself to write a story, a poem MAYBE, but a story, never. It has to come to me, and only if I'm sitting at the computer. I've written a few stories in longhand, but haven't translated them to computer yet. That's a habit that I HAD to get out of, handwriting I mean. IF a story dares to come to me when I'm not near a computer, then I search frantically for my laptop, and start pounding away. The most I've written at one time was 15 printed pages in a few hours, the least, 1/2 a printed page.

What inspires me? Well, nearly anything, sexual or not.

Inspiration......

The number one inspiration for me is the interest in a woman. I will be inspired to do anything at that point. But it usually comes out in writing. The first time it happened it was a bit of a pleasant shock to me. I had always hated to write! I have found with time I have to write when I am inspired. During those times or feelings I can write, Really write. Hot, sizzling, melting, just plain burn the paper writing. If I am not inspired it will come across bland and dry. Also with time I found I can write about other aspects of life other then passion. I think that developed as time progressed. The most enjoyable writing for me is the interrelationship between a man and a woman, ending in sex, love or just plain lust. Hence, I am a literocitian. I do have stories, some members have through emails. Most I have not posted or published in any fasion. I have mentioned some topics on the boards. I have always received good remarks on them. But I feel the real test will be when I finally put a story on the story list and help pay back literotica for the use of this site.

Now I know I have to write when inspired. I can not force myself to write. I also find I can write at other times now. Inspired does not always mean I am interested in a woman. Inspired now means just that, inspired to write. A story could pop into my head. Or I am just feeling good that day.

Hope this was not too long of an answer.

GRRRrrrrrrr.

Glad to see I have inspired you my lady........

Ok, really.

I have not wrote in years, nor have I wanted to. I have one poem on here that I wrote over 10yrs ago, and its probably the last I have written.

For me its been the encouragement of many of you all here, (whether its yet justified by the quality of my writing at this point or not). It all begins for me with being willing to push the limits, to take the risk.

I admit that in this arena I'm externally motivated, and with certain ~feline~ and other kudos here I'm really crankin out the prose. Thanks for the great thread, SK!

Um, anything really.

Today I spent a majority of my time hauling tree branches out of the yard. Being outside in the crisp air looking at the bare trees - it just inspired me ..

and that's only one example - nature, sex, emotion,

really - anything.

Inspiration..

Yes, I'd say there's definitley an inspiration when it comes to my writing.. Of course it changes, but recently it's been the depressing state I've been in after my friend's death on Thursday.. Since then, I've written five poems in remembrance of my friend, and have had four of the five published in local newspapers.. I am, by no means, a big shot writer.. It's just that when I do write, my writing has purpose, meaning, and most importantly, heart.. People who read my work pick up on all of that right away.. Other things that have inspired me to write: rejection, fear, sadness, loving someone and being loved by someone, and the seasons.. So yeah.. There's lots of things that inspire me to write..

Savage Kitten,

There are so many things that are inspiring to me. But, as you noted, if you're not ready to write, then nothing will help you along. Writing is one of those things that needs to be able to flow from you. It needs to find its route of escape, to be set free from your mind. Of course, those times are usually when I'm somewhere that I don't have access to a pen and paper. lol I've started carrying paper and pen around with me in my purse now.

I am a very scent oriented person. Whenever I catch an aroma that triggers some kind of memory or evokes a new passionate idea, then I'm able to write.

I also find outlets in seeing or touching something, especially if someone has just brushed against my arm or hand. That sense of touch can trigger some very erotic thoughts. I guess it depends on the mood of the writer, though, as to whether that can happen.

Whatever you use to break the ice, just remember, anything that causes your heart to stir or your body to tremble.....that's a wonderful place to start.

you are so absolutely right! and I guess.. there are times I don't want to admit that certain things can have that effect on me. but how can I deny it when I see the prove in prose?

Something Gridiron mentioned made me think also..... When I write, what I write, contains a piece of my soul.. I think that's why it can't be forced and it can't be denied. Sweetness, I'm so very sorry for you loss and your pain. *hugz*

dreams

everyone has them but many people take them for granted. the best and worst dreams ppeople have usually occur right before they wake in the morning.

even if it is a completely bizzare dream without any rhyme or reason, i try to think of one pertion that really stood out in my memory and let my imagination take over.

if you really want a good dream eat right before bed, if you want absolutley bizzare ones eat pizza with all the fixings:p

inspiration

Ideas that stir my emotions. The whirlwind of ideas that beseige my thoughts throughout the day can be meaningless and empty. But as soon as one of those ideas roots itself in one of my emotions...my attitude changes from tedium to zeal. And... it can be just about anything. I can go from taking the trash out(tedium) to passionately cleaning the world(zeal) in a matter of seconds, if, say I notice that someone has piled trash to overflowing in the waste can. The words and ideas begin to flow! I know that's extreme...but it's the same pattern of inspiration as a sunrise... a lost child...or a dream lover. My challenge is to stop and articulate with pen and paper. I'm just at the starting line of this race to express the emotion and ideas that well up inside me. I feel fortunate though to find the release that I see many others have known for years. It does seem to be a perplexing blend of feelings, emotions artistic expression and its adversary of discipline and structure. Balance appears to be a moving target!

Writing is one of my jobs..you know, for that cash stuff.

I spend hours writing copy..editing other people's copy..stories, essays, reports..on a daily basis.

It's like any other job...I always remember something one of my fabulous editors told me when I said that I wasn't up for being creative that day.

"A writer writes!"
