I just got back from several days of wilderness backpacking in the mountains. At one point I found myself sitting at the top of these huge white cliffs, the highest point in any direction. The whole valley was far below me, the trees turning to fall, the sky so blue you wanted to lick it. And me with my Nutella and Petit Buerre cookies, thinking, "This is just incredible." And after a minute I thought, "And the view is pretty nice, too."
And I got to thinking, naturally, about the BB at Literotica. About what it was about it that got me hooked. Sure, it's fun to post, maybe get a reaction or some give and take, but I like to come here to read. There is a bunch of really funny, insightful, goofy, biting, nice, bitchy, sweet, helpful and wise people that post here. For me, that's the whole ball game, and I've LMAO, and learned lots of stuff (some of it I really didn't NEED to know, thanks, Outsider
) and been touched by what people chose to share of their real lives. It's the mix of personalities, and people feeling the freedom to reveal things here that many people in RL don't even know about them. I don't think you can find this just anywhere, and Thank You Very Much, Laurel.
Take Never, for example. I think Never is very cool. I always have. She is very intelligent, and clever and witty. She has posted stuff that just cracked me up, then later something that was so honest and open it really got to me. I know plenty of people twice her age in the world who will never catch up to where she is now. I think, wow, if this is where she is at twenty, what will Never be like at twenty-five, or thirty? And this is merely from her posts. I can only guess what it is to know her as a friend. If she has a sharp tongue, she's not the only one, I still usually think it's funny. I tease a little, too, I'm a smartass. Just because I act stupid when I'm here doesn't mean I'm stupid in RL, and I know quality when I see it.
I'm not defending here, I don't have an agenda, just stating opinion. I have never disliked anyone on this board, with the exception of a couple of people we won't mention, lest they re-appear. There are a LOT of people here that I hold in high esteem, that make this place worth going to. I just wanted to be clear about one in particular.
